I started working here and was told by the owner not to come ever come back because of “communication issues” however in reality the owner was angry I was keeping track of my tips.
When I asked him if this was the reason he was “firing me” he proceeded to scream at me where everyone in the restaurant could hear.
It was belittling and humiliating.
Earlier in the day he was cordial and we were having great conversations but things changed after he saw me keeping track/writing down my tips.
His mood changed quickly and he started ordering me around more in which I quickly obliged.
He told me “Go clean the bathroom.” So I proceeded to go clean the bathroom. While I was almost finished he came into the bathroom and said “Why didn’t you wait for me to tell you how to do it.”
When I started the day he told me that we would be splitting the tips however I didn’t realize he meant with the entire restaurant including the back of the house staff, him and his brother.
After he yelled at me we got into a verbal argument outside, he lunged at me and I have multiple witnesses.
I made $200 in tips on my tables. I had to type all of this into the computer where they keep track. However I walked out of there with only $40.
I hope this helps anyone else that considers getting a job here get more insight. It doesn’t matter if you are a top notch server with an outgoing personality. You won’t have any big pay out days.
The only good thing is they do pay above minimum wage but in my opinion, it’s still not worth it to be yelled at and it’s not right to be paying out the back of the house or for the owners or managers to take tips.
Keep in mind, if you choose to work here, make sure you are not paying taxes on the tips you make on your tables and you only pay taxes on the amount of money you keep. Write down what you bring home daily. Compare it to your checks to be sure you are paying the correct amount of taxes.
Edited to respond**
I am sorry if you feel that way. A person would not have chosen a job where they do not respect the culture. I believe my writing speaks for itself. I am educated and I have no trouble understanding nor communicating. This still does not defer from the fact that it is illegal for owners and management to receive tips. You screamed and lunged in my face, to this, I have witnesses. Again, completely inappropriate behavior and illegal things happening in this establishment. My Attorney will be in...
Read moreMy husband and I ordered from this restaurant on Doordash on a whim last time we were in town. Since then, we kept talking about how great the food was and that we’d order again the next time we were in town. Fast forward a few months later and we planned a weekend trip to see my family. We both got excited we could order our favorite food again. We ran out of time through the weekend but on quick, last minute, late dinner plans before we headed back out of town, I called to see what time they closed so I could take my parents to this magical place. We had plenty of time to visit before they closed, so we hopped in 2 cars and drove 20 mins, all the while I was explaining how life-changing this food was. (The most tender steak hibachi I’ve ever had.) When we arrived, we found the restaurant wasn’t open for dine-in, which the lady on the phone didn’t mention when I had called. We were all pretty defeated and headed back to our cars, trying to figure out where to eat at 8pm on a Sunday night as our last meal together for a while. The owner (I think) opened the side door and explained he was struggling to find help. He warmly ushered us in and sat us at a table- something he was never obligated to do. We had delicious appetizers, the most wonderful meal, and I got to spend time with my family. What the owner of that restaurant didn’t know is that my husband and I were in town to celebrate my mom, who was just announced (miraculously) to be in remission from Stage 4 breast cancer, after she’d been told she wouldn’t live for more than 3 years and could never beat it. For us, this wasn’t a quick meal on a Sunday night. It was a celebration of life. My mom hit that 3 year mark at the same time she was deemed cancer-free, and that meal meant more to us than the owner of this restaurant could’ve ever known. We were never rushed, were kindly tended to, and spent 45 mins in food-heaven with laughter and smiles. I just wanted to thank the people who went out of their way to help us have such a wonderful experience. I know my parents will be back and will spread the word, as will we. Thank...
Read moreOrdered for delivery(which came quick, probably too quick). The order wasn't done right, but that's not part of this review... The chicken was/is inedible and couldn't be fixed at home. The chicken was so soft you couldn't pick it up with chop sticks and it slid off the fork (this isn't a good thing) the chicken was all fatty dark meat.
The fried rice was bland, had no taste to it at all, it looks like they just cooked it with soy sauce and nothing else. I was able to fix this at least at home by re-frying the rice and adding the needed ingredients to the rice.
The Angus steak was tough and over cooked, medium rare steak came well done and the shrimp was tough and over cooked as well. Both of these had no flavor at all as well and were quite a disappointment. The portion size of this combo was very small for its price.
All of this for what equals to over a 60 dollar meal(not including tip delivery or drinks in that price) makes this place a horrible value and I couldn't recommend...
