First, I'll preface this with saying that this review is very shortly after the opening of this second location. While I take this a little into account, it isn't the first location... First impressions are that the atmosphere is very dark (bordering too dark), the decor is nice and would make a quiet couples dinner. The wait wasn't bad and service throughout dinner was very nice and the highlight of the dinner. Next would be the wait for food... Appetizers came out fairly quickly; However, the main course took 55 minutes to get to us and some others around us took even longer (some waited up to an hour and a half). The next would be the food... It's a bit over priced for what it is. The full order of fish and chips was 25 dollars. The fish is Haddock, but that at most retails for just under 7 a pound for fresh fish, though normally a lot less in this area. It was "okay" as far as taste, a little greasy and tarter sauce served with it wasn't great. Others at the table had unseasoned bland lemon chicken, and another had chicken fingers... Which were the best of the meals served. Drinks appear to be over priced from the bar with no cocktails that I saw being less that fifteen dollars. We didn't partake in them, so I can't speak to thier quality. They had a large selection of spirits, though a very small rum selection in comparison to other locations with a full bar. The area needs nice restaurants; However, I think maybe they're a bit full of themselves with the pricing and quality of food. Paying more for high quality food isn't an issue, but paying a lot for food other restaurants not too far away can do better at a lower price isn't appealing.

I have had not 1 but 2 poor experiences here in the past month. Very disappointing that Feed Sack has bitten off more than they can chew by opening this second location in North Augusta after hearing nothing but good things from the Aiken location. Bad experience #1 the restaurant ran out of glassware, we did not even get water/soda for the first 30 minutes we were there, slow service, everyone’s food came out at different times. Gave them the benefit of the doubt since we were a group of 10 and it was Saturday night. Bad experience #2 on a Thursday night proceeded with slow service with different people serving us, waited 30 minutes for pretzel bites, they tried to make it up by giving us an extra one because “the kitchen made an extra”. We had to ask several times for drink refills, got salads 30 after appetizers, then after another 45 minutes, it took a manager coming to our table for us to get our main entrees. The food was mediocre, the pesto pasta was runny and could have been made at home for a fraction of the price and much better quality, chicken was dry, bacon on the burger burn. To top it all off, we asked for ketchup and someone that wasn’t our waiter brought 2 empty bottles, when we asked for ketchup again they brought a third empty bottle…then finally packets. Very unorganized and disappointing. Will not return to either location.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt very inviting and warm. It feels like you’re sitting in someone’s dining room. The decor here is very well done and it wasn’t too dark. DJ, our server, provided excellent service and we enjoyed talking with him. Appetizer was fried pickles with cajun ranch dipping sauce - not too spicy at all so this was so good! The breading to pickle ratio was perfect. Main entrees were Citrius-soy glazed Salmon with Brussels sprouts/carrots/snap peas/and shallot stir fry over jasmine rice, 7 oz C.A.B. filet with black pepper bourbon caramelized garlic compound butter with Yukon gold and baby sweet fingerling potatoes, and finally the Feed Sack Prime Rib - house marinated and smoked 14 oz prime rib with whipped potatoes, garlic butter broccoli/au jus/horse radish cream…sooo good! We also enjoyed cocktails - my favorite being the smoked old fashioned! They smoked it right at our table and it was a great presentation! Dessert! NY Style Cheesecake shipped from Carnegie Deli with strawberry glaze and Feed Sack’s Bourbon Peach bread pudding! Both were very well done and delicious. Overall, this was a great dining experience and we look forward to the next time and specials being added within the next couple of weeks! Great addition to Exit 5 and close to home. Exactly what this area needed.

We arrived around 7:30 PM and sat in the lounge area on Saturday, September 6th. After sitting for a few minutes, without being acknowledged by anyone, my husband asked if we would receive service at the couch area or if we needed to sit at a table, and was told that someone would be over shortly. We sat for about 10 minutes before having to ask for drink and dinner menus, and we sat for about 30 minutes after that before receiving our first cocktails. (**Side story: In the first 30 minutes of us being there, another couple arrived and received prompt service. They received their drinks and meals quickly, and by the time they were ready to go, they gave us their extra napkins and joked that it would be another long wait for us to get our own napkins).

Our food hadn't arrived yet, 2 out of 4 drinks were almost finished, and no one had come to ask if we wanted another round of drinks, so my husband went up to the bar to place an order. The bartender told him that she would be a moment since she was working on another order. 2-4 minutes later, my husband is still standing there waiting to place a drink order.

While my husband is standing and waiting at the bar, our food comes out. We have no silverware, so we ask the young man that brought our food out if he could bring us some. The bartender yells at that young man from across the bar and says she would get it for us. 1 minute and 30 seconds later, my husband is STILL WAITING to place a drink order and we still don't have silverware.

At this point, I walked to the hostess station and ask to speak with a manager. Allie, the manager, arrives at the hostess station and I explain to her our situation (my husband is STILL standing at the bar, and Allie is a witness to this). While I am expressing my frustration with the poor service from the bartender, that same bartender comes to the hostess station and ask Allie what the problem is in the most disrespectful and rude tone. Allie calmly ask her to go back to what she is doing, and the bartender repeats herself to Allie with the same disrespectful and rude tone.

Allie apologizes for the earlier situation and assures me that she will speak with her GM and make sure that the rest of our dining experience will go smoothly. While I am walking back to where we are sitting, I can hear the bartender loudly talking about our party to the other servers/bartenders.

The service before and after Allie intervened was night and day. I do feel that the other servers/bartenders were following the main bartender's lead before Allie stepped in because until she stepped in we were being ignored by everyone working in the lounge area.

I appreciate Allie and her actions to make things right; she provided exceptional service. Thank you, Allie!

This was my 2nd time at North Augusta Feed Sack, and my husband and friends' first time there. We frequent the Aiken Feed Sack at least on a weekly basis. We are extremely disappointed with our experience with North Augusta Feed Sack and do not know if we would go back. I am honestly afraid that if we do go back, the bartender will remember us and spit...

WARNING: LONG POST I honestly wish I could give our experience there last night a “0”. We arrived for our 6pm reservations and were seated fairly promptly. This was a birthday meal and consisted of 6 adults - the restuarant by FAR was not crowded. Approximately 20 minutes later our beverage order was taken along with starters of pork belly and Bavarian pretzels. At approximately 6:30, other customers begin to arrive…some with the same size party as ourselves and others made up of 2-3 individuals. Our drinks were delivered (water and iced tea) 45 min after our selection had been taken and at that time our orders for the main course was taken after being informed that the item that brought two of our party there, the fish and chips, was not available. . The starters came out around 7pm (an hour after we were seated) and each were enjoyable. By this time, ALL of the customers that had arrived far later than ourselves already had their main courses, regardless of the size of the party. We had to ask the hostess for a drink refill which went by the wayside. The salads that came with the entrees (honey mustard chicken sandwich, peppercorn fillet, salmon, lemon chicken, a bacon cheeseburger and pasta) were very good. Finally, at 8pm - two hours after we were seated, what I presume was the manager came over to see how things were - all nodded our head no. At 8:05, the manager brought out our meals - except the burger which came out 15 minutes later. Everyone’s food was cold, the fillet was more like a sirloin and now to the burger and fries. When the burger was brought, almost two and a half hours after being seated and others that arrived after us already have eaten and leaving, ketchup was requested. Not one, but three bottles of EMPTY ketchup bottles were brought. Although what may seem as small, finally a server was asked did we need to walk across the street to the fast food establishments to ask for packets of ketchup….that is when the server actually brought packets. The burger had to have been a frozen “Bubba” Burger and the bacon was so burnt it did not even resemble bacon. We had all been excited to have the meal in North Augusta as a family as many of us had enjoyed the Aiken establishment. If every customers meal had been delayed as ours, we could chalk it up to just a kink in the system for that night or if one person’s meal was not up to par then the frustration would have been less. However, from beginning to end this was a fiasco. The manager never circled back around to make sure things had been taken care of. But THREE empty bottles of ketchup and two and a half hours to even get simple dishes when all other customers with the same size, or bigger, parties were getting their meals that were a lot more complicated than others? That is just unacceptable. The whole experience was horrible and I can promise our family will not be back. A school employee function was going to be planned for there, but that will no longer be. Very disappointing all of the way around. I suggest if you go there, order only the pretzels and fries…..but bring your...

This restaurant came highly recommended from a person in my local foodie group. The experience and food was horrendous. I ordered the Caeser salad and was sure to tell the waitress no croutons. She repeated it back and said that she put it in that way. The salad came with croutons. She took it back and brought another. I saw what I thought to be breadcrumbs but thought it may have been part of the dressing. I ate further into the salad to find more croutons that they forgot to pick out. They picked the croutons out of my salad and gave it back to me and didn't even do a good job at that. How disgusting and unprofessional. I'm still in disbelief that a restaurant would try that hard to bamboozle me. Picking through someones salad is crazy. Luckily my wheat allergy isn't severe at all but if you are a person with an allergy, I would steer clear of this place. My dining partner had a garden salad and pointed out that the lettuce was wilted and covered in pink, showing how old it was. For the entree, I ordered the chicken marsala with no asparagus and add broccolini. My dining partner ordered crab cakes. Twenty minutes after we ordered, she was told that they didn't have crab cakes, so she ordered something else. After waiting even longer, I recieved lukewarm chicken marsala with asparagus and no broccolini in sight. She received the crabcakes that she was told they didn't have. The chicken was cooked well as far as it being juicy but it had no flavor. I didn't eat it. My dining partner said the crab cakes were delicious. I'm not sure why we were treated that way but I definitely won't be going back.

Update: Katherine, thank you for your reply. I would ask you to look at the security video and see if that’s true. I guarantee that you’ll see that CJ came over there one time and I explained everything to him. He did take off the chicken marsala, he also apologized for the salad. On that video footage, you will also see him speaking with the other party. Also on that video you’ll see her taking all off the spoiled lettuce off of her plate. He never approached us prior to the end of our meal. That’s a bold faced lie that can be proven with a quick glance at the cameras or you can ask our waitress whose name was Catherine. She can confirm everything that I stated because it’s true. On top of picking through my salad, now the manager is lying saying he checked on us two or three times?...
