Another month later and I tried again, this time waiting to order in person. Used the restroom while I was there and proceeded to have to clean the toilet myself as nobody is checking the restroom and there was pee everywhere. Told the employee and there was no care or emotion behind her flat “sorry” after the CUSTOMER had to do their cleaning tasks. The staff here could not care any less about their environment or customer service.
3 months later update: I gave yall a chance again. This time I walked in and it was busy. Nobody greeted me this time, asked if I had an order or anything. I saw 2 bags under the Uber eats sign and since I didn’t order through Uber eats, I stood by waiting for name to be called as I was 5 minutes early for my SCHEDULED READY TIME. At my scheduled time, I walked up for an update as I thought I saw them packing a smaller bag for my order. My order had been sitting out ready under the Uber eats sign the whole time. I expressed my frustration and how I have said I don’t want my food ready early before and the employee just stood there staring at me as well as one of the food line workers. Again, I arrive early for my pick up orders so I can pick up my food hot and fresh as I already have a drive home where the food will cool down. I can’t believe I gave y’all a chance to correct this behavior.
This is the second time that I placed an ASAP order with an estimated time of about 20 minutes. I showed up about 10 minutes early each time and my food is already ready to go. This is a problem for me as I do not want my food sitting out waiting for me, which is why I arrive early. I said something to the employee today and she just laughed it off that they weren’t busy so they made it right away. I told her why that was a problem and she didn’t really respond nor express any apology for my food quality. What if I had scheduled my order for an hour later? Would my food be sitting out for 50 minutes waiting for my arrival?
I think I will stick to the regular Domu locations moving forward.
Edit to add: I ordered no mushrooms and add fresh garlic. There was barely any garlic, and I found mushroom pieces- what if I was...
Read moreThere's not much to expect from a trendy, quick service place like this.
I spent $43 total. I received the pork belly ramen and vegan spicy miso. The pork was incredibly dry and the slices were paper thin, firstly. Both ramen bowls were small compared to other ramen restaurants (yes, even for the price) and were of low quality. This ramen wasn't much better than store bought Maruchan and in fact, I would advise you to look up a quick instant ramen noodle recipe instead of ordering the ramen here; you'll be able to make something much more flavorful and with better ingredients.
I also ordered the Domu "wings" and the pork gyoza. The wings were the best thing about the meal, spoiler alert, but the taste and texture felt like fast food quality. There was practically no meat to these "boneless wings" and were 99% fried crisps nuggets the sizes of dimes. The sauce saves it a bit but also dealing with a lack a flavor, it doesn't cover up the fact that you are barely eating chicken and moreso eating what feels like fried batter from the bottom of the fryer. The pork gyoza was fine. But that's it! It was simply... fine. I would compare these to frozen dumplings but I have had my fair share of frozen dumplings that are great and have a good flavor and tastier quality.
Actually, I speculated the food I received was indeed, frozen food. While I'm not opposed or ignorant of the need to freeze food, there's a difference between fresh food that's frozen and frozen food that looks fresh. The food here fits into the second category. What further pushes my speculation aside from poor quality is the fact that after five minutes of eating my ramen, the gyoza and chicken was already somewhat cold. Fresh, thoroughly cooked food, doesn't get cold that fast.
I would 100% suggest to spend your money elsewhere. One of the few places I've been where the quality feels almost offensive. And for $43? I toyed with the idea of going to Longhorn Steakhouse before deciding to eat here and I personally would have spent just about the same doing takeout there. Save your money and choose a better ramen place, an authentic ramen place, or just a more enjoyable...
Read moreI'm a regular here. I stopped in once a week for nearly two years.
I had one of the worst service experiences that I have in recent memory. This place has the customer placed their own orders via kiosks. When you order you are asked to tip.
Today the kiosks were taking orders but could not connect to the credit card readers.
I was asked to log on the website via the QR code and place my order there. At the website it required that I create an account which asked for a lot of personal information which I didn't have to enter yet the kiosk. So after tapping through those screens on my phone which had nothing to do with my order I placed my order which the system flagged as a to go order.
Less than 10 ft away worth the two workers who were making my food and they noticed the fuss that I was having with the kiosks, and faithfully they fulfilled my order as to go. Except I always eat in.
When I was handing my food in the plastic bag, I commented that my order was for here. The person who handed me the food has been there for a while asked whether I told them. They watched me place the order and struggle with the kiosk do I actually have to do that part myself, too?
If they aren't ready to take orders because their kiosks are down and they can't handle the situation when their kiosks are down then just close the door.
When I inform you that my order is for here, I think I know.
But now the kiosk has been asking for 10% gratuity upon order. The food has always been a bit of a price for its quality. There are a couple other ramen places up and down the street for about the same price. I was here for the convenience. I paid the tip because it is a courteous thing to do.
But it would appear that they are taking all of that for granted. It doesn't seem like they know how to run a business.
I took my " takeout order" and eat it at my office desk. And then I had to wipe down my office desk. And this is why it was not and never has been a...
