I came here one day after a hot morning of fishing. I decided to come here, because the fine readers of Orlando Weekly voted that this place is one of the best places to get Greek food in town. I had never been, so I took their word for it. And boy, were they right. I ordered way too much food.
I started out with some classic Falafel (Traditional deep-fried mixture of seasoned ground chickpeas and fava beans. Served with tzatziki sauce). One of my favorite forms of fritters of all time. The flavor and aroma within is so amazing, and getting that creamy tzatziki sauce all over it only help. Very crispy, not oily. Perfection.
I also got the Spinach Pie (Spanikopita) (Flaky phyllo dough stuffed with a mixture of spinach and feta cheese. Served with tzatziki sauce). Please, don't call it a spinach pie. Grow up and use the real name. Wow! This thing had a thousand crispy layers of phyllo, and it was gushing with spinach and feta. Very creamy and crispy, all in one. Also perfection.
For my main, I had another classic, the Gyro Pita (Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki). Side of French Fries. This is a standardized dish that I expect the same thing out of from every one I have. Soft, strong pita bread. Heaps of well seasoned gyro meat. Loads of fresh veggies to cut through all the heaviness. And gobs of that signature tzatziki. What's not to love?
I also got to try the Olympian Pita (Chicken and gyro meat combined in one pita. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce). Side of Potato Salad. Same thing, just with chicken. The chicken was nice and charred and added to the massive amounts of meat, and flavor in this dish. Also, I would skip the potato salad, if I were you. Just get more fries.
I finished off this amazing meal with the Baklava Cheesecake. It's exactly what it sounds like. A slice of cheesecake, with some baklava on top. Sounds simple, but it's one of the best dessert combinations since ice cream and apple pie. The phyllo breaks apart into a hundred little pieces and adds a crispy honey texture to every bite of that cheesecake.
Overall, even though this place is a chain, all the classics are there, and they are absolutely delicious. I...
Read moreJust had a Birthday Dinner ruined by this group! I live 30 minutes away from this restaurant. The staff left half of the order out. I called to resolve the issue, the best they could think of was me driving back another 30 to get food missing and 30 back home with food that was missing. This was a birthday dinner that was supposed to be movie at home over dinner and now everything comes to a stop. I completely explained to the manager and was willing to come back and get dinner but only way it would be worth it is everyone having warm food , Gyros don’t do well in a microwave with all the vegetable and creams so to total disassembly of the food to warm up would be absurd. So I asked if dinner could be redone and I would drive back out with an hour wasted driving. The manager wasn’t interested in that and just wanted to have me pick up missing food or refund only the part missing. I was completely in disbelief. They could truly careless and said they will tell owners of the company rather then help with our dinner. And of course I wasn’t pleasant on the phone at this point especially after being hung up on the first time. The small amount of money it would cost to fix this was so little it’s unbelievable they wouldn’t even consider fixing meal over. Manager is definitely not in proper position. Thanks for your time. Not a good place to deal with definitely a restaurant that needs to be cleaned up a little. Don’t bother with this place...
Read moreI placed a pickup order through what I thought to be the restaurant, but turned out to actually be through Postmates (which I didn't know until after paying). When I arrived for pickup, I noticed that the online menu price for my item was significantly higher than the price that I saw in the restaurant, making my total bill more expensive than it should've been. I brought this up to the manager, who then told me that the price paid for advertising the restaurant online for delivery options hikes the menu prices up to pay for that advertising. In other words, what I thought was the restaurant site that I was placing my order through turned out to be a Google-sponsored ordering option that appears when searching for the restaurant through Google. As part of the service fee for being a Google result comes the additional money that customers end up paying...not to the restaurant, but for the restaurant to be searchable on Google and delivered through Postmates! Thankfully, the manager offered me a complimentary drink to make up for that additional $5 that I ended up paying. Lesson of the night: be mindful of which site you are ordering through when placing curbside pickup online! Five stars for the customer service, not the ordering and...
