Visited on 20 Jan 19, at roughly 1500, I was SO EXCITED to find a place that makes Philly cheesesteaks, I was like a little kid on Christmas as I walked in. My first clue that it wasn't going to be a good experience was seeing that they use Cheese whiz, that's a no no to Philadelphians, we'll eat it in a pinch, but, a real cheesesteak is made with real cheese, yeah I know some of the BIGGEST cheesesteak shops in Philly use cheese whiz, but, those are the tourist traps, if you go into the heart of Philly and go to a neighborhood cheesesteak shop you won't get cheese whiz. We decided to make our own so we could choose real cheese, and ordered a half and a whole. The wait was less than 10 minutes, the young lady at the register wasn't too friendly, not mean or anything, but, definitely not the smiley, happy-go-lucky type, the young man that brought our food to our table was very friendly. I was so happy to have my hands on a cheesesteak that the first bite seemed to melt in my mouth. After 2 or 3 bites and the euphoria wearing off my excitement was short lived. There was not enough meat on the cheesesteak, it wasn't chopped up correctly, and there was just too much bread(exasperated by the minuscule amount of meat). The sandwich was extremely bland, totally void of taste, we also encountered a lot of fat and/or gristle, I was born and raised in Philly(Germantown) and I've been eating cheesesteaks since before I could walk/talk and I've NEVER encountered fat or gristle. The lighting was great and the were a few TV's to enjoy the game, I expected a bit more Philadelphia memorabilia on the walls, if I'm not mistaken the only Philly "stuff" they have is an inaccurate mural of our skyline, a picture of A.I., a picture from inside Citizens Bank Park, and a few philly knickknacks on the hood above the stove.
All in all the experience wasn't great, the food was bad and the atmosphere didn't scream PHILLY. But, I will give them a chance to redeem themselves, it could have just been a bad day for them, so I'll definitely try them out once more time in my quest to find an authentic Philly cheesesteak here in...
Read moreIt's with a heavy heart that our family has made the difficult choice to say farewell to a place that was once a treasured part of our lives. For years, it was more than a restaurant â it was our weekly ritual, a tradition. Every week, at the same time, on the same day, we went there and order our favorite meals, a tradition that lasted for about 3 years.
However, the recent experiences left us disheartened. We noticed a changes in a way of serving our food â our beloved discounted burgers arrived cold, and the French fries seemed like leftovers, they were all tiny pieces not the whole thick and long French fries and some of them were burnt. This wasn't just a one-time slip; it became a normal way of serving foods to my family for a couple of months.
One time, I confronted worker that I couldn't grab and eat French fries because they were tiny pieces, he brought a new one and it was good. If he could do that, he should've served fresh and warm food on every single serving.
As a family, we've sadly decided to let go of this tradition, one that was a part of our lives for about 3 years.
I sincerely hope that by sharing this personal review, it encourages a reconsideration of the service and the quality of meals provided to every customer, especially those who invest their time and loyalty, deserves the warmth of a fresh, satisfying meal and the acknowledgment of...
Read moreWe order from you quite often. Being from South Jersey it was as close to home as we could get. Not sure who you had working tonight but they didnât acknowledge customers walking in the door and left food sitting on the counter for 15 min to get cold and soggy as part of our order. Your on shift managers answer when asked about it was âIâm sorry you feel that wayâ. If it were me I would have asked for a refund on the spot but my wife was nice and accepted the food. Congrats you lost a customer. I ordered from yâall because I appreciated your business but apparently you donât appreciate your customers. Remember we pay you. You donât pay us. Feel free to contact me. I just looked at the cheesesteaks. The only one that has a decent amount of meat on it is the one requested with extra meat and cheese. Requesting extra shouldnât even be a thing. That would NEVER happen in South Philly. Lol. Iâll be in tomorrow with pics and hopefully speak to someone who actually cares about the business. Train these entitled kids to do their job or you will just keep losing customers. This is not a good representation of what South...
