Desperately Seeking Croissants! I knew what I was doing this morning when I went to bed last night. Visiting The Bakery Colombian Café for their delicious almond croissants. Early enough where there were no crowds yet, I ordered my mocha latte with almond milk and 1 of the 3 remaining almond croissants. I was tempted to get all 3 but I thought of anyone else like me, who might have been desperately seeking one & I took them all. So I got one. I mention to the friendly person taking my order that I was sad that I couldn't make it this past week when they had the strawberry croissant & to my delight, I was told, "we have them & they are ready". Omg! 1 please. It's going to be a good day! I sat by the window to take in the view and enjoyed the yummiest croissant & a latte that was truly made with love (you can tell when it is) Of course I could not visit this Colombian gem without buñuelos. They come mini, 3 for $2, the perfect snack for that afternoon coffee that future me will love! If you haven't made your way to this cute café & indulged in the delicious drinks, caffeinated or otherwise, & bitten into the pastries and Colombian favorites, please do!!...
Read moreNever again. I ordered a ham, cheese & egg sandwich. She asked me "none of the options on the menu, no red sauce, no tomato, no lettuce?" I said "correct, none of that, just ham, cheese & egg" I got brought a whole entire sandwich with everything I specified I did not want. I tried eating it but it was soggy and fell apart, I left the whole sandwich. I ordered a papaya smoothie, zero negative stars. The smoothies are not smoothie texture at all, they are just like as liquid as a regular juice. I also ordered a fresh guava and cheese empanada, cheese was not melted all the way through, just a chunk of cheese in there. Abuela pudding seemed like it been sitting there all day, not good either. Arepas are not fresh, they are also placed with scrambled eggs for who knows how long.
I made the manager aware, he tried to compensate me by switching the flavor of smoothie. I accepted it because I felt bad at this point. Sorry not sorry but I would not recommend this spot. I had two different orders. 30$ wasted for no good...
Read moreAlright, coming from a Latin American country we all know that these items are not that expensive to make. I understand that in the US prices are higher and this part of town might be more expensive to operate a business in, but if I am paying an incredibly high markup for the food I will go in expecting it to be good. I went and bought some pastries and they were cold and the taste was not worth the price. Ended up paying almost 20$ for 4 items, and after that I am being prompted for a tip? I really want to be able to take my friends to a good latin bakery but unless the product quality (taste, presentation, etc) justifies the price difference I don’t think I will be coming back very often. Sure, I’ll probably will drop back maybe once or twice a year for now to see if the quality has improved. I don’t doubt a lot of people would say the food here tastes great, but I am sure it will be those that have never had the chance to go to Latin America and try it...
