Night Heron Bread — Restaurant in Alameda

I've tried a few things from this bakery and can say they really do make great bread—especially the country loaf and the baguette, which are both excellent. However, I recently decided to try something new at the farmers market and ordered a "pie dog" (a hot dog wrapped in pie dough) with tomato jam. While the jam was tasty, the pie dog itself was disappointing- it was served cold, the dough was hard and flavorless, and the dog was wrinkly and chewy. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me. If pastries are on the menu, I’d suggest finding a way to serve them...
