Bizarre is all I can say. The gyro was filled with French fries and after taking them out, I realized why… they literally only put TWO small slices of meat and then used fries as a filler. I’ve never seen this anywhere else. Completely overpriced for what they are serving. I also got a small salad and side of the feta fries. The fries were good (of course I wouldn’t have ordered a side of fries if I realized they were stuffing fries into the gyro), and the salad was okay, but definitely not worth $8.99. As others have mentioned, the entire interior of the restaurant is plastered with AI generated art of an imaginary grandma and it just feels completely fake and creepy. Seating was a bit awkward too, and looked uncomfortable, but I only stopped in for takeout. I live right around the corner and was excited to have a new option for Greek food, but this was my first & last visit. The gyro was just ridiculous.

I’ve grown up with generations of Greek friends. While the menu has some limits they are just starting. The food we had was very authentic. There were some things to tweak and we had a great culinary dialogue. They’ve made some changes to please the customers that we agree are not necessarily to maintain authenticity. We talked about having two batches of tzatziki sauce for those who dig it and the ones who want mayo or sour cream. The meats and pita are all from Greece. The prices were quite fair given the economy. I called ahead and was able to bring my own wine. We need to make this place “ MAKE IT!”. They know ahead what they want to add to the menu and are totally invested. This is our new go to. They sported us free Nosh up front and a card to keep track of visits for simple freebies. A truly invested family Greek Restruant around the corner is just what we need. And KID FRIENDLY!!!!!

This family owned authentic Greek restaurant is a NEW addition to cuisine in Alamo Heights. And it's the real deal and super affordable. We shared chicken soulvaki and beef/lamb gyros for dinner on a Thursday evening. Everything was excellent. The Greek sauces are worth coming back for! Pita were fresh straight out of the oven. We brought our own bottle of wine since they didn't have their license (yet). About $15 a person.

I asked the wife, “what would you like to have on our date?” She responds, “I don’t know.” I was like, “I’m in the mood for Mediterranean food.” 20 minutes later we roll on in to Grandma’s Greek Taste and we’re picking out our lunch. I got the gyros and she the vegetarian pita.

The food was fantastic. So much so that the wife says, “we should have your birthday here in a few weeks!” I wasn’t going to argue. A few weeks later we roll on in again with our family and packages. We order our food and a short time later we’re all eating our meals.

Then when the wife sets a package in front of me the stereo system starts playing: Happy Birthday and I’m laughing hysterically because it was so funny to me and they gave me a couple free deserts and sang along and I’m still laughing to cover my embarrassment.

This is the definition of going above and beyond and making you feel like family.

Thank you, Grandma’s, for the fantastic 26th anniversary of my 21st birthday! Y’all are the best and the food was again soooo good! We highly recommend the veggie pita with...
