Update: you can see from this owner's response exactly what I'm talking about with the over-defensiveness and the speeches. This is unfortunate and will continue to hold this business back. Thank god no one in my home had a shellfish allergy, someone could have been hospitalized
The foos here is decent, but the prices are intense. $19 for a pasta dish when competing local businesses charge $12.00-$14.00. I asked them to sub shrimp for chicken on my pasta and they gave it to me with shrimp. I didn't know until I got home 20 mins later, as the cashier didn't feel it was important to mention and no one called me. I called when I realized, and their position was that the substitution "wasn't possible." Didn't call me, didn't text me, nothing. I've noticed in the last 8 months or so that the owner likes to go on big rants on social media, so I almost feel bullied into not leaving this review. I own a small business, I support businesses standing up for themselves and setting boundaries, but calm communication is what's missing here. A simple phone call stating the substitution wasn't possible would have saved me time, money, and saved my relationship with the business. I do hope they're able to make a sea-change, but after our 3rd attempt to eat here, i think it's a pass...
Read moreMy first time having Caribbean food. Even though this restaurant had self serve kiosks there are very helpful people to walk you through. The wait seemed normal to me for home cooked authentic food. They kept me informed on my order.
What I ordered:
Coconut Water (It's a cute personal sized VitaCoco)
Hibiscus Passion Fruit Punch. This is homemade. Depending on your taste, this is SWEET. It was the perfect after meal sweet.
Fried Sweet Plantains. My first time having them, I enjoyed them. Not ripe banana sweet, kind of like a sweet potato. But taste of a banana.
J3rk Chicken Sandwich. It has the texture of pulled pork, but it is chicken. Savory and sweet. Nice fresh crispy slaw vegetables. The bun was a buttery soft and sweet bun. Wonderful chew.
J3rk Chicken Tenders with Spicy Honey J3rk dipping sauce. The tenders are like a dry rub with lots of spice and flavor. The dipping sauce was tangy spicy sweet.
2 Spicy Jamaican Beef Patty 1 with cheese 1 without. For the first time I can say I prefer something without cheese. I am not able to publicly say the feelings I felt eating the Beef Patty. It is the flavor I have always wanted, and am now blessed to have right here at home.
THANK YOU FOR BLESSING OUR COMMUNITY WITH THIS...
Read moreThe recently bought Costco can of soda was expired but replaced for free. Our wait time was over 30 minutes, so best if you call in your order. The staff is short and you have to replace your own order on your cellphone or a self-serving order station. The plantains were the best I have tasted since moving from Little Havana. The chicken was tasty and warm, just the right mild spiciness for me, plus it smelled so good. The red bean and rice was perfect, probably some of the best we have ever tasted. My other half hates coleslaw with mayonnaise, but Da J3rk Sport coleslaw was the bomb, a direct hit! We loved it. The food was excellent and the chef even came to our table. The food is far better than the Colonel's or Popeye's but cost a little more. As far as the inside of Da J3rk Spot, the decor was welcoming and matched the theme. The place and bathrooms were bright and clean. The chalk writing on the walls was creative. If this was New York City, the Chef could personally cater to families and for bbq's for $500-$1000 a meal as he and his food are that good. Lastly, leftovers the next day were good. We will definitely eat here again but will...
