Went to @stalksteakhouse on Friday night with @morganmichellemedia and been daydreaming about it ever since 😼‍💹 #alaska #alaskafood

Finding a great restaurant in Alaska is tough. The best places are 50% amazing food, 50% atmosphere—a space where the world feels like it stops on a date. Crush and Whiskey & Ramen come close, but Stock Steakhouse finally checks both boxes. Open just seven months, Stock has grown into a fully booked restaurant through word-of-mouth. Their sleek website lets you learn about Chef Aaron and book reservations. I made a 7 PM reservation, and within 30 minutes, Stock personally called to confirm and ask about the occasion. By 7:30 PM, the place was packed. Without a reservation, expect to wait. The host greeted me warmly, and before my date arrived, Chef Aaron checked in—where else does a chef do that? Seeing an old-school reserved sign at my table set the tone. The wine menu is impressive, with bottles from $50 to several hundred and wine by the glass. This is a red wine kind of place, perfect for sharing a decanter. Service was impeccable—attentive but unrushed. We started with the goat cheese and pepper jelly appetizer, which was fantastic. Fresh ingredients, perfect balance, and great with wine. Stock’s menu doesn’t list prices, so I estimated $60–$125+ for a steak. We ordered filet mignon and lobster mac & cheese. Chef Aaron stopped by again, adding to the warm, intimate vibe. The steak was flawless—soft, juicy, and packed with flavor. Best steak I’ve had in Alaska! The lobster mac & cheese was also outstanding, far exceeding 49th State Brewing’s version. Just when I thought the meal couldn’t get better, the waiter asked, “CrĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e with two spoons?” Even though I’m not big on dessert, the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e was incredible—perfectly torched with caramelized bananas and a rich, creamy inside. Stock nails both food and atmosphere. I never felt rushed, and every detail—from reservations to service and ambiance—made this an exceptional experience. Highly recommend for special occasions. Not cheap—expect $200–$300, and with multiple wine bottles, $500+. But if you want the perfect date night in Anchorage, Stock is worth every penny.

Stalk Steakhouse I will start this review off by saying this is their soft opening but this restaurant did not miss a beat and operated the way a new restaurant should when they first opened. You can tell they thoroughly trained their staff inside and outside the kitchen. The headchef/owner spoke with every table multiple times, the staff was beyond attentive and honestly just operated at a class above most restaurants now a days. They came to the restaurant scene fully prepared to operate at a higher standard and know what being in the restaurant industry means. The decor was thoroughly thought out and is reminiscent of a lower 48 style restaurant. Appetizers were as follow Whipped goat cheese with pepper jelly Spicey, creamy, yet balanced out with the fresh green apples. Meatballs All to often meatballs can be greasy or dry but these were perfectly balanced with great flavor and the sauce underneath pushed it over into the fantastic realm. We ordered a second serving Shrimp cocktail The sauces were made from scratch and again flavor was spot on without being over powered. Huge shrimp filet mignon The steak was seasoned well but the highlight for me was the crust from searing. It's been a long time since I've had a steak cooked correctly, be a good cut of meat, and seasoned well. Usually hard to get all three. Lobster mac and cheese Mac and cheese had a great blend of cheese that didn't over power the lobster but stood out on its own. Very large generous portions of lobster in the mac. Lobster was tender and cooked just right. Brocolini and potatoes Good sides for a steak house seasoned well Halibut The only thing is I wish it had more of the sauce. Regardless the Halibut was cooked just right was flakey but not dry. The different textures made for a balanced plate with the bed of Whipped mashed potatoes. We finished with the bananas foster creme Brule. Delicious. Definitly a 50/50 split between the two styles of deserts but still maintained the way a creme Brule should be.

If you're looking for a culinary gem, look no further than Stalk Steakhous in Eagle River, My family and I recently had the absolute pleasure of choosing this incredible restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and it surpassed every expectation we had. From the moment we stepped inside, we were swept away by an ambiance that perfectly marries vintage charm with modern elegance.

The decor at Stalk is nothing short of breathtaking. The thoughtfully designed interior features vintage-style ceilings and piping, soft, tasteful colors, and well-arranged tables that create an inviting and upscale atmosphere. It truly is a first-class dining experience right here in Alaska.

Despite the bustling bar area packed with eager patrons—a testament to its popularity—Chef Schropps, the talented owner, made it a point to personally connect with us at our table. His passion for culinary excellence shines through, not only in the way he runs the restaurant but also in the extraordinary dishes he creates. Our wonderful servers, Jamie and Cheryl, along with several other attentive staff members, ensured that our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable, even amidst the restaurant's busy vibe.

With everything else going for it, the food is the real jewel in Stalk's crown. Our meal began with appetizers that were truly beyond a culinary delight. The colossal shrimp cocktail was a sight to behold, and the goat cheese spread paired with hatch pepper jelly was a harmonious explosion of flavors; the sweet and spicy combination was nothing short of perfection.

We also indulged in a butter lettuce wedge salad drizzled with creamy blue cheese dressing that elevated this classic dish to new heights. For our sides, the broccolini was sautéed to perfection, while the lobster mac & cheese featured generous portions of succulent lobster.

When it came to our main courses, the steaks were artfully cooked exactly to our preferences—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a celebration of high-quality ingredients and expert preparation.

Throughout the evening, the attentive service from all the staff was commendable. No matter how busy they were, every server made sure our glasses were full and our plates cleared promptly, allowing us to focus on savoring each course and celebrating our special occasion.

Having lived in Eagle River for 22 years, I've seen numerous restaurants come and go, but I can confidently say that none have matched the sheer enjoyment we experienced at Stalk. As avid travelers who have dined around the U.S. and abroad, we would unequivocally place Stalk among the very best we've encountered in our culinary adventures.

Bravo to everyone involved in making our evening at Stalk a night to remember! If you find yourself in Eagle River, treat yourself to this extraordinary steakhouse—you won't be...
