I'm conflicted about writing this review because this business is clearly loved by the staff and seems well managed but ultimately these are the things I wish I knew before I went so I wanted to share my experience. We arrived at 4:15pm on a Friday afternoon and it took 30 minutes to seat our party of two. Ok. But there was ample empty seating in the dining room this entire time. I respect that the very friendly and knowledgeable staff were busy and that the kitchen was already backed up, but it's never fun to see many empty tables and be left standing in the entryway. So at 4:45 we got a chance to sit down and then we're immediately told that the kitchen is backed up and that it's going to be a while before we can eat, but they will be happy to serve us drinks. Ok. I asked if there is any bread or something we could get for the table in the meantime but told absolutely not due to their preparation methods and the only thing that they would serve us immediately was dessert. Ok. So we ordered two house blended whiskeys which were fantastic and delicious. At 5:10 we were permitted to order food and ordered an appetizer and two entrees at that time which came with side salads. We ordered mozzarella bread as an appetizer but then there was a basket of bread brought with the salads, so I would advise to wait until the salad and bread portion as this bread was superior to the more bland appetizer. Our food was served at approximately 5:40 and ultimately, everything was okay. My spaghetti Sicilian tasted like canned tomatoes and dried noodles. All the other ingredients were lost to the tomato. The stuffed chicken tasted like chicken breast with some breading covered in cream sauce. There was no additional flavoring or seasoning that either one of us could detect in the entrees, but the sauces were good when mixed together. Ultimately, our impression was they serve "classic American Italian food" - dried noodles with a one dominant ingredient sauce. If that is what you were looking for, then great! The quality is good and the menu is big! But for me in the end, I decided to take most of my meal home to make additions there before reheating. Yes, I am a food snob and I know this place is great to many people, but if you are going there hoping for flavorful, or innovative, or authentic-to-the-original-country dining, this is not that. This is just my experience and I hope you go to try it for yourself. Overall positives - great staff, ambiance, and...
Read moreWe finally Tried this restaurant after being life long Alaskans, we walked in and restaurant was not too busy, maybe 4-6 tables, right when we walked in they immediately said, “Sorry one hour wait” but the lady did say she can seat us, so we decided yes why not we made it this far, after sitting took about about 15 mins until our drink order was taken as well another 15 mins until we got them, so was good with it due to long wait for food, but servers where kinda going outta the way to ignore us, mind you we are not dressed up, but other tables sat after us about 10-20 mins after and was greeted with specials, and immediately drink orders with drinks followed, when drinks followed another server joined and I guess was a “regular” and definitely saw favoritism, with food drinks and checks up happening very frequently while our table plates stacking u, drinks ice are melted and felt like they went out of their way not to check up on due to regulars maybe tipping higher or what ever the case, but after a while our food arrived, and o decided to pick the more pricey side of the menu and got Halibut Parmigiana, while the Wife had Chicken Piccata, my Dish was good, the halibut was fried great. The Chicken Piccata had a huge zing/ lemony over taste, we had about 8 thin slices of lemon with the chicken which over powered the whole dish, would be an amazing sauce if didn’t have half a lemon cooked into two chicken breasts, we ordered the Calamari and Caprese. The Calamari was good, Simple. The Caprese was just deconstructed and on a plate. Very simple and a quick dish. We did get refills and check ups, at the end we decided to ask about desserts and decided to try the tiramisu, and that was definitely the best one in Anchorage so far. A bit soggy and watery at the bottom but flavor 💯!! The price was a bit spendy for the service that we got, as well observed a few other tables getting the same service while possibly “Regulars” or “ High Spenders” get the red carpet. I think if service was a bit more at heart or more meaningful would be a better establishment. But a very high priced dinner to be treated like 2nd class on...
Read moreThis is Italian food and I believe the “D’” in Fiori D’ Italia should stand for Delicious. The feel of this place is classic dark lit Italian joint with an epic collection of alcohol for that perfect GodFather ambiance. Like any good Italian restaurant, the wait time was long, but I didn’t mark them down because they offered to seat us and serve drinks while we waited to be able to order food. If you are very hungry and don’t think you’d have fun sitting around a table with family or friends with some drinks while waiting to order then I’d recommend the Olive Garden. But if you like real Italian food, good cocktails and an atmosphere worth waiting in, you’ll find it to be all that more of an authentic experience. I’d love to give a shout out to our server. Although I don’t know her name, she was young and very laid back. She joked around with us and felt more like a friend than a worker which I personally value in an Italian restaurant because when you’re here, you’re family... nah, that’s someone else’s lie, but what is true is when we were there, we were treated like friends and that is even better. To bottomless bread, fantastic food, and wonderful workers! And for recommendations: I’d say all of the cocktails were amazing, just go with your alcohol of choice and they’ll have a delicious cocktail in its suit. Appetizers: We loved the escargot (don’t be afraid, it is actually so good), the calamari and the hand cut mozzarella sticks. Pro Tip: keep the escargot ramekin to dip your breadsticks in the garlic oil with your meal. For the main course: If you are a fan of halibut and creamy sauces then the “Halibut Fiori” is an absolute must try. Quite possibly the best halibut dish out of many I have ever had (seriously that good). The sweet aspect from the almond cream sauce pairs perfectly with the buttery garlic halibut which was cooked to perfection itself. Served with penne pasta and fresh baked bread, it was absolutely...
