The busiest coffee hut in Anchorage for a reason! We come here almost daily. We drive out of our way to get the coffee from Black Bear. Not only is the staff wonderful; remembering what we drink (2 white chocolate mocha's .. 1 with whipped cream)and always friendly and accommodating, but the coffee is fantastic. The white chocolate mocha is the best I've ever had. I'm told It's the owners original recipe. Does she know she's sitting on a gold mine??? Yum! I hear it's for sale. Potential buyers: if you want the customers this business currently has.....steady with 3-4 cars deep on both sides waiting patiently for this superior coffee....you might want to ask what it'll take to get her white chocolate mocha recipe included in the deal! Thanks to all at Black Bear for making my mornings...

Best coffee in Anchorage but sometimes it comes with a LONG wait. It seems they’re a little understaffed for their busier times.

Baristas are friendly and make fantastic coffee.

They have a LOT of flavors to choose from to customize your drinks and their punch cards are nice when you get to your tenth (free) drink! Always a great start to the day.

Not much in the way or baked goods or food so if you’re looking for something to eat, probably not here. The bagel selection is dismal but bagels are terrible for you anyways so it just encourages me to skip the extra carbs!

Best sweet chai in town and the baristas are always awesome! It's our favorite little espresso shack.

Edit: This is the closest shack to my home so I hadn't really tried many other ones when I wrote my last review. I have since experimented with several other espresso shacks and have concluded that...Black Bear really is the best one. Nobody makes a mocha like they do (the Irish cream is my favorite!) and the barista is super cheerful. It does close earlier than most other espresso shacks and the lines can get long, but for top quality coffee drinks, they're well worth the wait. I'd give them 6...
