O'Brady's Burgers & Brew — Restaurant in Alaska

I have been to this place quite a few times. Some days, the service and the food are great and some days are okay but the last visit was just beyond terrible. I took my nephew and my family so we had a party of 6. 3 of them were younger kids, 1 being a toddler. When we received our bill, they informed me that they since we have a party of 6, the total bill includes an automatic gratuity of 20%. I know that they can legally do that but come on, my party had 2 adults and 4 kids, 1 being a toddler. I don't really have a problem with that and actually more than willing to add more as long as the restaurant deserves it. The server acted like she didn't want to be there that day and was extremely rude. The food was hit and miss and on all of my visits, it seems like the servers are not even aware of what they serve. They don't know anything about their drinks and what they put on their menu.

The place can also need some upgrading. Table cloths are about had it and the restroom can use some good cleaning and remodel.

Now, will I come back? maybe yes to give them another chance but I would keep in mind not to go over the 5 person limit to avoid the automatic gratuity. But if I have to eat out at a restaurant and there were choices, they are probably on the bottom...

The food was good for a pub but the service could use some improvement. We went during dinner hours and the place was about half full with one server running every table. There might have been another one but our server was going all over the place and from what I could tell he was doing the majority of the work. The fries were a little light. The thick cut steak fries were delicious but it felt like they could have put a bit more on the plate for a hamburger dinner with no other sides. The drinks were a little slow too for a pub. If it were a restaurant I wouldn't think much of it but usually bars are Johnny on the Spot with drinks. Probably due to the manpower mentioned above. Atmosphere is actually a 4.5. It was loud but normal for a bar. We did get a private area for our large party, but there was a window in the wall that let all the noise...

This place is amazing. Good drink selection, semi-pricy drinks, nothing out of the norm for AK. Brie and garlic appetizer was great, huge serving, bread was fresh, garlic was perfectly cooked, Brie was very good. We had the pot roast dinner and Shepard’s pie. Pot roast was cooked perfect, very flavorful, lots of steamed veggies. Shepard’s pie was good, lots of mashed potatoes, very flavorful meat. Veggies cooked perfect. The death by chocolate cake was extremely rich, needs the ice cream to go with it. Had Irish cream cheese cake, very good, not too rich, lots of flavor and very good brownie-ish crust. Fast, attentive, thoughtful service. 10/10, my new favorite comfort...
