Buyer beware: Iām a big fan of small business, supporting our community as well as believing weāre all human and make mistakes. That being said we ordered dinner for Davidās birthday from Peteās BBQ, weāve ordered from them multiple times since moving to Chugiak/ Eagle River. About 20 minutes after ordering this time we received an alert from the bank to verify a $400 cash app transfer. After receiving our food I called Peteās BBQ, I first spoke with an employee who informed me their procedure is to take the order then they write down the card number, exp date and CCV code before walking over to the credit car machine and entering it. I then spoke to the manager who said it was a family business and immediately became overly defensive. I asked to have the manager call me in order to reach a resolution and was told no because āI canāt trust youā. That night another transfer was attempted for $175 but the card was already canceled. On Friday I called and spoke with Mr. Kim who is the owner, he told me they keep the card number with the receipts for at least six months as was required. This is not completely true. (As a business he must keep the receipt from the card machine that is signed, not the card number with exp and ccv.) He was unable to let me speak without interrupting me until I asked him if he was an adult and able to stop for a moment so he could actually listen, not just hearing one part and interjecting his reply.
We were not looking for a refund as we had received our food, we simply wanted their card procedure to be addressed to ensure the financial safety of anyone ordering there including us. The card we used that night is only used for autopay bills and a check for mortgage. In order to save and continue birthday celebrations we decided to just use the card rather than transfer the money. We are not careless with our card information, we have worked hard for our money and prioritize financial security.
This is not how you conduct business. Since then we have a family member with a fraudulent charge on their card the same night as ordering from them, on a separate post some one stated their card was compromised the day after they had ordered from Peteās and there is a year old review on their page to not to use...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is absolutely repulsive and unfit for food preparation (operating out of a small space in the back of Tips Bar). They should really consider closing the doors and spend a good amount of time bringing the place back down to a clean state before ruining what reputation they have left. This place operates primarily as delivery and after looking at their ratings, I'm beginning to believe most reviewers are delivery customers whoāve never stepped foot inside the place. We used to be the same... until swinging by one day and witnessing the built-up grease and dust hanging from every inch of the place.
If theyād just get this straightened out, then they would absolutely be one of the best burger joints available to the Eagle River/ Chugiak area. Food is great! But not worth the atmosphere itās being...
