We wanted to try out an amazing Thai restaurant and this one had many great reviews!
What a disappointment. It had so many things that was not really great. We came in 45 minutes before they closed, but we tried to order everything and finish so we can leave early. We finished our food, and left before 2 other tables that came in before us.
I don't know if it was the person preparing the drink at the time, but we ordered thai tea, and it came in a very small funnel shape glass container, like the ones they use to serve ice cream. Most restauraunt that serve Thai tea serves them in reasonable size cups, but that was not the case for this. Thai tea costed $3. The dish that I ordered was Pad Kra Paw (Pork). The dish was decently okay, but the food proportion did not meet the $12 criteria I had set it out to be however. It wasn't very satisfying..
My friend ordered a Pad Thai, and she never received her order. We had to inform them that she never received her dish. They went to the back, talked quietly among themselves and proceeded into the kitchen in the back. We assumed they were making us the missing Pad Thai dish that they forgot, so we waited a couple minutes and by this time, no one informed us they were making us the missing dish. We had to ask them ourselves if we were getting our missing dish. They finally informed us that it should be done in a couple of minutes.
Was very disappointed that they never apologized for their mistake and also did not inform us properly that they are making the dish for us. We know people make mistake and it's okay to admit fault, but to not say anything is even worse.
By the time the dish came out, everyone had already finished their food, and the restaurant was way past the time of closure. We took the food to go, because the restaurant was already closed so we did not want to stay and impede. Like I said earlier, we finished and left, however there was still 2 other tables still finishing up even though they came before us. You could see that we tried to finish and leave as soon as we could.
We spent a total of $94 and I can say, we are NEVER coming back. Food was okay, nothing really amazing, the restaurant decor was definitely not great as well. I don't see why anyone...
Read moreit’s pretty spendy for the portions and lack of veggie variety (the veggie stir fry is basically just cabbage). khao soi is usually my favorite dish, but they really skimp on the noodles here (they serve about a 1/3 portion of what I’m used to). overall, the food at least tastes fresh and has a good amount of spice.
I also should share that I had a horrible first experience here after ordering and paying online, arriving at the pick up time, and then being told my order didn’t exist and, when I finally convinced them it did and showed them my receipt, waiting another 30+ minutes for my food while I watched 3 other people come into the restaurant and experience the same exact take out debacle. hopefully they’ve gotten that figured out, but even when I ordered over the phone they had a hard time finding my food when I came to pick it up. so probably just best to go here when you want to sit...
Read moreAs Thai living in Alaska for several month, this place always make me feel like home with their unique atmosphere with Thai elements and decoration, I would say "This is SO THAI." I tried some Thai restaurant around here, but would say that this place is the only authentic one that I've found so far. And the businessowner is native Thai and I will always support my people!
For Pad Kra Pao they use Thai holy basil which is really expensive here especially in Alaska, so I would say that even though it's a bit more expensive than other Pad Kra Pao in town, but it's worth the money I pay. The noodles is always in a big portion, I never get used to it. I've been there several times and would go back again once I feel like I've been away from my home back in Thailand for too long.
Recently they have special menu: Hoy Tod which is one of the most famous street food among...
