The Bernard roadhouse in Anchorage is a local classic restaurant. That is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it. Truth be told I rated the three stars out of five based on my hard food judging that restaurants need to pass. I was told that I needed to get the bacon, jam burger and of course because I always do what the locals say and so you should, I got that burger and all in all it was OK. I personally did not like how there wasn’t bacon strips or large pieces of bacon it was a bacon type of sauce mix with another sauce on the burger. It made some of the burger soggy, which I did not care for. However, this may just be for this entrée. It may be a few others, overall in the vast amount of entrées that I saw all of them looked great. I also tried the jambalaya and was extremely impressed with the spicy sauce. It was cooked and prepared.
They have a rotating IPA and IPA hazy know what you get but that’s OK for some adventure. I was glad that they also had a Stout and other options on the menu as well. The menu was average price.
One of the best acts about this restaurant is the atmosphere. It’s a great place to bring friends kick back and relax. I was really impressed by the local decor that having a cabin type feel to it.
The bar set up was very attractive as well. All in all this is a place that I would recommend for anyone to try out...

Kiddo got a kids menu cheeseburger, with tater tots. It came with an option for a side, she got grapes. It ALSO came with a dessert, she chose mango sorbet. ALL for $10! The Dr Pepper was extra. She scored it 5/5
Adults ordered: An Eggs Benedict, with tater tots as a side, and a local hefeweizen to wash it down. The EB was fantastic! Their hollandaise sauce, which was one of the better ones we've had locally, had what tasted like a little bit of cayenne in it, really set it off! Yum! 5/5
The Cubana with sweet potato tater tots, YES, you read that right! If you like sweet potatos, you gotta try their sweet potato tots. Probably the best tasting sweet potato side I've had! The Cubana was really good as well, but lacked a little flavor when compared to other Cuban sandwiches I've had, but was still good enough to order again. 4.5/5
The Spenard Roadhouse has a monthly special for.... "Bacon of the month"! Who doesn't like bacon? This month (January) was Bacon Scotch Eggs, set on some stone ground mustard. Wow! What a crowd pleaser!
Service was fast, and our waitress Ardita was phenomenal! I would highly recommend giving this...
