If I could I’d rate it 2.5 stars. Definitely not as bad as 2 stars but definitely not as good as being 3 stars. As someone who is dual citizen with Peru and has lived there I know there’s no comparison to home. However, there are times where you get homesick and you yearn for a reminder of home. When I heard/saw this place was opening I got excited. The pollo a la brasa got me excited but the thought of other things (papa a la huancaina, anticuchos, chicha morada, etc….) after driving over there and checking out the menu, I was immediately reminded why Peruvian restaurants are always a miss more than a hit here in America. They try so hard to cater to a western audience that they almost always end up twisting and straying away from what makes Peruvian cuisine so amazing. Weather it’s adding things like, Maduros or Tostones (Which we actually call Patacones in Peru) or serving salad and steak fries with an actual “fry sauce” without even serving Lomo Saltado. These are the things that always go wrong with Peruvian restaurants in America. They always try to open up as an exotic foreign hotspot for unaware new guests to the cuisine, and of course those who have never had actual Peruvian cuisine in Peru will say it tastes great. And I would say the same, it’s actually not that bad. It’s reminds me of pollo a la brasa from Wong or Totus. But it’s nothing to write home about. If the owners maybe switched it up and added papa a la huancaina or rocotto relleno instead of Maduros or Tostones I think it might redeem itself for 4 or even 5 stars. But it’s just like every other Peruvian American restaurant out there……… an...
Read moreOrdered online 3 hours before scheduled pick up time, customer service was good, checked the food and the fries were too salty and tasted as if they were made 3 hours ago during the ordered time but not close to the schedule pick up time :( Got the whole bird meal and for almost $40 the side portions were so small, that was a huge turn off. The Aji Verde was a bit chunky and tasted mostly like cilantro, the Aji Amarillo was sweet and not spicy at all, wasnt a huge fan of the sauces. I've had authentic peruvian pollo a la brasa before and was really excited to try this place out for the first time since it open and it just wasnt it. Was the chicken horrible? A bit tough, but it was good. Was it authentic pollo a la brasa ? Mmmmmmm NO, a bit disappointing. Overall, it won't be something I would drive across town to order :/ Maybe if I hadnt tasted authentic peruvian cuisine before trying this place I would rate it higher, but it just doesn't match up to the glorious flavor of peruvian...
Read moreI'm sorry to bring this type of comment, but because I'm a regular and I've never had an issue before, I want to communicate my recent experience. My food was cold, fried yucas were hard and cold, chicken portion was totally different and way less for what I paid/ordered. Unfortunately, I found out about my food's condition when I got home. It didn't occur to me to check the order because I never have problems and the guy is always nice and on point with our food. However, there was a lady yesterday that had long dreadlocks and she wasn't so nice. All the food was not great. And she sounded very sick and without her voice, and was wearing her gloves while touching the cashier machine and resting her gloved hands on her mouth. Please be more aware of sanitary issues. Be nicer too. The food here is not cheap and getting your food like we did was a bummer. Respond: REGARDLESS if she was sick or not, my main concern was her gloved hands on and...
