This is the 2nd day of the opening of Sonic. Unfortunately it might be a little premature for two days now we attempted to wait in line to pick up dinner but on both days an employee walked down the line of waiting cars and told us the restaurant was going to close. So we could not be served. This was at 7:30 pm. Both Monday and Tuesday of March 7th and 8th when they were supposed to be open till 11 pm. No explanation given. Hopefully this will not continue. Seems like a premature opening for a new restaurant or poor management. Two days now about 40 waiting cars stretching down Huffman road were turned away. Very annoying. We had already been waiting in the line about 40 minutes along with everyone else. At this time I do not suggest going to Sonic on Huffman.
In all fairness, I thought I should give this place a second try after they had been open for almost a month now, so I went today 5/6/22 at 7:15 for dinner. was the third car in line behind the car ordering - it took 35 minutes to get to the order station, both lines painfully slow, obviously they have not got their kitchen working like a fast food restaurant yet. Finally got to order and asked for the Bacon burger, " Sorry we are out of bacon" Ok ordered the double cheezeburger, onion rings, small chilli cheese tater tots and a medium coke, tomato Ketchup, "Sorry, we only have Large, out of medium and small containers" . Asked if I could use the free drink coupon I got with the Sonic app. Well no she said we do not accept those. So I had to pay for a large coke. It took 20 minutes to get to the window and pay. Got the food and went to the nearby park to eat. Should have checked it before I left, no ketchup, no napkins, no fork or spoon for the chilli cheeze tatertots. Good thing I had a saved plastic fork in the car from Taco Bell! LOL ... Well the burger was good, nice thick slice of tomato and pickles and it was flavorful. The Tater tots were barely warm and were soggy so they had to have been made a bit ago, the onion rings were almost saltless and had a strange metallic overtone like the fry oil was old. Read moreSo far, 20 minutes in the drive through line since we ordered, and still two cars in front of us. No way to get out of line. We had heard you had issues at the beginning, but after a year of business, you should have this down by now. Too bad you rely on the brand name and ignore any reasonable service standard. We will not be taking the food we ordered, we will will not give you any money for this horrible service.
Update: nearly 30 minutes wait, we get to the window and it is clear they see nothing wrong with this "service." We left when the person in the window acted affronted that we should not want to pay for being trapped in their line for so long. There are dozens of independent restaurants in town that can actually produce good food in a reasonable time, with employees who are treated well and care about what they do. We will go to one of those next time.
Update number two: after reading the same disingenuous response from Sonic Corporate, I did try to call the number provided, and while the recording initially stated the wait would be less than 5 minutes, I waited on hold over 15 minutes of hearing the incoherent "thank you for continuing to holding..." message before I hung up. The phone number to the store is never answered. Clearly, these franchise owners do not care and Corporate doesn't either. This business has no right to take space that could be better utilized by Alaskan businesses who actually do provide the service they advertise. I look forward to seeing this business exit...
Read moreI would give it zero stars if I could. Three saga begins at 12:15pm. First I pulled into a stall to order, only to be informed by an individual who seemed to have smoked entirely too much weed, that only drive thru and lobby were open. I decided no problem we just wanted a snack and drink. We get into drive thru and there are three cars ahead, admonish no issue. We sat for 30 minutes before finally making it to the speaker to order. We still had time before a doctor's appointment at 13:15, so we ordered. Ten minutes later, one of the two cars ahead of us finally moved. At 12:55 I actually called and spoke to the same very high individual (to clarify, I have no issue with weed, just not at work) who told me that all of the orders were finished and just needed to be handed out. At 13:05 car number two finally had their food. It was 13:10 when we made it to the window, at which point I asked them to cancel our order. We spent nearly an hour in line, for 3 cars to be served. For anyone wondering why I chose to stay in line, there was no way to get out. After I pulled in, two cars pulled in line right behind me. There was the building to one side and a curb/ bushes to the other. I do not know the issues they were having today. It could have been staffing, training, or supplies.
