We went out for an pleasant evening before the work week started. Going to BJ's was a mistake.
There were more waitstaff then customers.
We were seated promptly and given menus. After that it was all down hill.
After a longer than usual wait, our waiter showed up. We ordered drinks and he took off. another long wait. Returns with our ice tea and glass of water and takes our order. This went pretty well. We ordered an appetizer, and it was good because that took a long time to get there. Our meal took a very long time to arrive. Then the shift change. Our waiter was leaving and he assured us we would be taken care of by someone else. This was not the case.
The waitress had been taking care of two tables in our row. And they received decent service. One of the couples came in after us, were served and received their food before us and then left before we even got our check. This waitress made an effort to avoid eye contact with us, left our glasses empty and was rarely visible after her other customers left.
At one point I tried to make eye contact with one of the other servers and was given an eye roll and a "tsk". I guess she thought I was trying to flirt with her in front of my wife. I wanted to ask her to send our waitress over.
We waited a very long time for our bill. Long enough that my wife suggested we just leave. Finally the waitress showed up all smiles. I asked for a manager.
When the manager arrived, he began to address my wife instead of me. He seemed to know there was a problem because he told us he was concerned. He was forwarned either by the waitress, or more likely experience that we had not received good service.
I got his attention, and told him of our experience. He did do the right thing and did not charge us for the meal along with giving us coupons for deserts.
The service was so bad we wondered together on the way home if we had done something. It seemed like it was a personal affront. Got home and checked out the reviews, and it looks like it is business as usual at this restaurant.
We won't be back.
Edit, a year later. We went back this evening and it was a great meal. It is amazing how much a difference wait staff can have on things.
The waiter knew the menu well and helped us with our questions. He was also very patient but made sure our glasses were...
Read moreThe manager at this location should be demoted! I came in this evening at 6:30 with a party of 13 for my son's birthday. We were seated immediately but had to wait 20 minutes before we finally had to find a waitress and ask her if we could order drinks. I ordered a beer that was served in a pilsner glass. When I picked it up for my second drink, the top of the glass completely separated from the base and my entire beer spilled all over me! I quite literally just picked up the glass and it fell apart in my hand! The server got the manager and all he could do was tell me he was sorry that happened and asked if he could get me a towel. I was soaked!! I went to the bathroom in tears of embarrassment and from the cold I was now in. I wanted to go home but I couldn't leave my son upset on his birthday so I suffered through it. Well, I wish I would have gone home. Our server was horrible. I had to hunt her down several times and even had to go to the bar to get to do boxes. We were there 2 1/2 hours before we were able to get the check. I asked the server several times to do something for my son for his birthday and she ignored me every time. When the check came, I couldn't believe the manager didn't try to offer a free dessert either for my son's birthday or for what I went through with the faulty glass. He didn't charge me for the beer that spilled on me so I suppose I was supposed to think that made up for everything. My husband confronted him about providing a discount after everything that happened (or didn't in the server's case) but the manager acted like he didn't even care! This restaurant used to be one of our favorite places to go -- at least two to three times a month. I refuse to go back! I am thankful the glass only spilled my beverage all over me and didn't cut me at all, but the embarrassment and cold I had to endure for my entire meal on top of the rudeness of the manager and the lack of attentiveness from the server has ensured I will boycott this restaurant and tell all I know about this. Thanks for ruining my...
Read moreTerrible experience. I can understand being short staffed and having issues running your business during Covid times but this was terrible. We were immediately seated but then waited at least 20 min before anyone acknowledged us. Plenty of staff walked right past us. By the time they took our drink order we were already ready to order our food. Our drinks came and eventually a man came over and said what I ordered was not available it would be 30 min before that would be ready so I needed to change my order. I did and we waited for a vey long time. I had gotten a coke and a water and finished both. Our waitress was not unavailable we say her plenty serving all the tables around us. She would often stop and give us a update but that was all. I looked at my phone after what seemed like a very long time to discover it was. We had ordered over a hour ago. Not knowing the waitress was behind me I said I should have just got my original pork chop they should be ready by now. She heard me and said “ok now I know something is wrong I didn’t even see your order up there anymore” and ran off. We again waited another 10 min before we said forget it and slowly packed our children’s things and left. We did not rush I had hoped that she may see us and address the situation or have her manager address this but nope. From the moment we were sat to the time we had made our way out the front door a total of an hour and 45 min had passed. Again this was not a short staff Covid issue we are tolerant of that and have come to expect to have some limits or extended waits. This was terrible and just down right...
