This place tends to stare at you when leaving the Regal 16 Cineplex through the south parking lot exit. That said, I finally decided to stop by last week and give this place a go. When I arrived and was seated, I took a glance at the menu and admittedly had a difficult time deciding what to get. The problem with living in a city where the nearest Ocean is a two-day drive away is that the seafood scene tends to be a little dry (bad pun intended). Crackin' Crab certainly had a number of good seafood grub offerings, but it's nothing to what you'd expect to see at a coastal seafood restaurant. The menu, for instance, is only a single page long and more or less only features basic shellfish delicacies. Uninspired I must have been because when the time came I decided to just go with the six-piece chicken tender basket. It was decent enough in both taste, texture, and size. What I enjoyed most about it was the homemade authenticity; as many other restaurants simply just resort to reheating pre-made tenders. The side of seasoned fries was also good despite having lost some of their initial crispiness (i.e they must have been sitting around for a while prior to my visit). Apart from the food, my server was more than gracious and was checking up on me with such frequency that I definitely knew that I was more than well taken care of. With what little seafood options Albuquerque offers, the Crackin' Crab does a good enough job in helping to fill that void. The place is clean, the service is good, and the food is alright. If in an adventurous mood, then stop by the and give this place a go.

Went to eat here for my birthday on Sunday. We ordered one of their combos called the drift, it comes with black mussels, shrimp, scallops and crab legs for about 70$. Our server came back to our table and told us they were out of black mussels and if we wanted to switch our order to one that came with everything the drift combo comes with but replaced the black mussels with clams. I told her we didn’t, because clams are usually really sandy. I asked if they could just add some green mussels to replace the black mussels, she didn’t respond and just walked away. When she came back she brought us our drift combo with green mussels, so I thought cool, they were able to add the green mussels in place of the black mussels. Everything was fine, we asked for a side of lemons and when she brought our ticket it was $135. She ended up charging us for the combo, adding a $25 charge for the green mussels and also adding an extra $5.00 for a SIDE of lemons. Oh she also added the service charge of 20% for her own tip which we would’ve given anyway even though the service wasn’t the greatest, my brother in law asked for a refill 3 times and didn’t get one. We didn’t complain and just paid but The last few times I’ve gone to crackin, has been nothing but disappointment. for Mother’s Day we were given rotten crawfish that stunk and mushy shrimp at the Jefferson location, the west side location didn't have their liquor license and now they’re charging $5.00 for a side of lemons. I’m good with paying for the things I want but a heads up would’ve been nice. No where did I read a $5.00 charge for a side of lemons (they never use to charge for that), if they couldn’t do a replacement for the food they were out of they should’ve let us know before charging us an extra $25.00. Just overall not too happy with the lack of communication and service. We won’t be back to any of the crackin locations because they’re always out of something and for the price you could literally go to meetcrab on San Mateo they’re a lot more reasonably priced, you can add hard boiled eggs and just a lot more options with what you can add or subtract to the combos you choose and better service. Crackin has gone down hill from when they first opened, they use to be my favorite and go to...

Every time I order from this SPECIFIC location I always have to check my order before leaving. I usually get extra lemon or sauce on the side WHICH I ALWAYS PAY FOR and DON’T MIND but when I’m getting charged and not getting my stuff when ordered prior is annoying. Walking inside and having to ask is annoying. I expect to get my order, have the right order and no questions or concerns needed. Every time I go to Pan American crackin crab I never have this issue. And I even tipped just assuming they had everything right the cashier even threw in Extra napkins and “bibs” cover ups whatever you want to call them in the bag to “cover” missing products. I will no longer be getting my sea food from this place. I try to give benefit of the doubt but no matter what server or cook is there they do the same exact thing. And look up my name. You’ll see I have ordered and picked up my order Plenty of times. This rate should be a 0 but giving benefit of the doubt to owner to fix this...
