This is our second time ordering takeout from Pho Ginger. The restaurant looks very clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The pork sandwich is delicious, (sorry about the two bites eaten sandwich pic. 🤣) it's not a huge sandwich, love the taste and texture of the meat, just enough veggies for a good crunch and the bread is thick and very tasty. No sauce is served with the sandwich (we didn't ask for any). The vegetable soup is delicious! (Note soup in picture is in my bowl w spoon/chopsticks, not the restaurants) lots of the normal veggies (great flavored mushrooms btw), the tofu was tasty and not seared/fried like other places, enough and excellent broth, there wasn't an overwhelming amount of noodles which is awesome, also no sauces served with soup (we didn't ask for any). We also ordered vegetarian spring rolls (sorry no picture, we scarfed them delicious. Two come per order and they are on the smaller side. They did come with a sauce, which looked a little like peanut but was different and unusual very sweet taste. I wasn't crazy about the sauce.
I love that they are open on Mondays, I do hope they are successful. We will be back to...
Read moreI spent about 3 weeks in Albuquerque on a work trip, and so was Googling pretty frequently in the area for food options. I usually have to drive very far for good Vietnamese food where I live, so Vietnamese food was one of the top things I was looking to try. Pho Ginger ended up being the first place, and one of the best places I tried in town. I ended up eating here about three or four times, and had to-go a couple of nights as well. The pho broth was phenomenal in itself, and worth the drive depending on where you are coming from. The accompaniments (herbs, bean sprouts, jalapeno, and limes) were all clean and fresh as well. There is usually plenty of seating available, and the parking in the strip mall it is located in is usually never packed. By the time I left the area I had tried their 10. Pho Dac Biet, 13. Bun Bo Hue, 23. Bun Dac Biet, their spring rolls 1., both chicken and pork Bahn Mi 5., their Soup Bo Vien 3., and an avocado smoothie. If you are a resident, or passing through ABQ, you owe it to yourself to check...
Read moreFirstly, everytime I eat there this older waitress/hostess makes less than subtle comments about my weight. She's basically calling me fat every time I eat there. The food is boring, tired old Vietnamese "cuisine" that isn't new, exciting or even particularly authentic. I think my wife got food positioning because she's been in the hospital for 2 weeks with a crater in her colon with the words Pho Ginger written on them. Don't tell this military historian we won the war in Vietnam, everytime I leave there it's' my body that feels bombed out and depleted....sadness permeates everything around me...Flashbacks of my wife throwing up haunt...
