I hesitate to give this restaurant even one star but I do want to make a point about how unpleasant our experience was at this restaurant. My family, which consisted of 7 adult seniors decided to visit Weck's on Sept.8, our last day of a week's annual trip to New Mexico. We should have left the restaurant when my husband had to quietly ask the waiter to replace his dirty coffee cup. The meal went downhill from here. Three of us ordered biscuits and gravy. As we all began to eat breakfast, my brother called the waiter to our table to let him know that the biscuits were so hard you could not cut the biscuits with a fork. The waiter was clearly put out at having to return the plates (noticing his attitude, my sisters declined to return their plate and instead just ate the other food on their plates). At this point my brother had to wait for the waiter to get him a new plate. In addition my brother had ordered warm potatoes and was brought cold potato chips. These also had to be returned. Again, by the time the waiter returned with his food, the rest of us were finished eating. My sister in law ordered a salad which was mostly just lettuce and a big disappointment. You should be ashamed to serve this kind of food. Again we motioned the waiter to return to our table to voice our concerns and disappointment in the food and requested that they take off a meal from the ticket for several reasons, which included, not being able to eat the meal to begin with, having to return the plate twice for two reasons, and having to wait to get the meal after everyone else had eaten. The waiter at this point became rude, sarcastic and defensive. He began to make excuses. One excuse he made was that the cook was new and didn't speak English as if to say "you know how "these" people are. I personally found this comment offensive. This waiter needs some diversity training. Unable to get any assistance and a solution from the waiter we asked to speak with the Manager. The Manager listened to our comments but his lack of courtesy and understanding was beyond the pale and he too began to make excuses. His demeanor was curt, unprofessional, annoyed, sarcastic, and he seemed unable to make a decision to resolve the situation for his customers. Instead, he said he would go talk to the cook in the kitchen and never returned to our table. He sent the rude waiter with our ticket and the waiter informed us that cost of the biscuits had been taken off our meal ticket. This Manager needs to learn the essential basic skills of dealing with customers. This manager needs additional training. While I observed the other servers being friendly to their customers, the waiter we had made us feel as if we were an imposition to him. We will never frequent any Weck's restaurant again and you can be sure that our story will be told and retold to all our friends and family. I can say that the chile was tasty but even that was ruined by two employees that managed to put a real damper on the end of a beautiful New Mexico visit. We will be back to Albuquerque but not to Weck;s. We did not leave satisfied and feeling great about eating at Wecks. I and my family do not recommend you waste your time or money eating at this restaurant. Albuquerque has many many fine restaurants that will treat you well and will deliver on the quality of fine food that New Mexico...
Read moreFirst, let me just say that tge Food quality is quite good. They make very accessible New Mexican style breakfast food. The green and red chile are good, and the portions are plentiful. But it is important to note that criticisms of a restaurant include other factors, and not just food quality. The service is usually very poor at this particular location. On my last visit in which I got a table, the food took over 40 minutes to come out, and when it did, half the order was wrong. The manager apologized profusely, and I appreciate his effort, but this was far from the first time this happened. Add to that the generic Americana ambiance similar to an Applebees, and there isn't much reason to actually eat at the location. They do offer orders To-go, which would be ideal, if not for the fact that their to go service is even worse. Ordering on the phone is often a long affair, in which the order is read back to you wrong, despite doing no special requests. Once the order has been read back appropriately, expect the receipt to read wrong when you arrive. Even if it doesn't, the order will be wrong, and you have to wait for them to actually cook your food. The cashier is usually a very young girl with no interest in her job, and it shows. With no exaggeration or sarcasm, the last. Times I ordered food to go from this particular location, the order was wrong. You just have to expect it. Why would I still go, you may ask? The food is actually that good. It really is. Nothing else about the place...
Read moreSo disappointing because usually the are so consistently good!
I ordered a fruit cup and two eggs poached medium. The fruit cup had pineapple in it. Yay! Right? No. The pineapple was WHTE and flavorless. Why bother putting it in if its not ripe or at least the correct color? They cannot poach.a medium egg to save their lives. Sent the eggs back to have them give it another shot. Took forever and our waitress avoided us, wouldn't refill my husbands coffee or bring us the napkins we requested while the eggs were being cooked again. Annoying! The floor manager sails by "asking us how our meal was" and did not wait for an answer. So why bother? Finally the second try on medium poached eggs arrived and they were again...runny. But my husband got his coffee refill. Waitress asked it I would like to send them back again but at that point I just wanted to eat something besides white pineapple. Manager came over and assured me they could cook 2 more eggs for me, but come on. My husbands waffles were great and so was his side of bacon. When we went to pay, it turned out the waitress gave us the wrong ticket. So we had to wait to get that straightened out before we could pay and leave.
On a brighter note, Weck's is next store to True Value hardware store so we were able to pick up some paint and sand...
