This is the first time that my wife and I have come to eat at this place. It was recommended to us by some friends who live nearby and we all came as a group of about eight people. The food and the atmosphere were excellent. The live DJ played good music, the beer was good, the carne guisada I ordered was great, and so was the fresh guacamole. My wife got the chicken fajita nachos and those were excellent as well. Unfortunately, the service was a bit lacking. This is clearly due to having a new server, which she mentioned right at the beginning, and while I understand that people have to start somewhere, she was asking questions about our meals that I did not think needed to be asked. For example, someone in our group ordered seafood flautas. The server asked if she wanted corn or flour tortillas with that meal. That meal did not come with a choice because the flautas are already made the way they are. When I was asking about ordering a michelada, she asked me if I wanted it frozen or on the rocks. Just those little kinds of silly things. The server was Young, and learning, and on top of it, she was super polite. We still tipped, we still enjoyed the food, but I think that training needs to be stepped up. Maybe she was on the job for the first time today, so was Super fresh, but still. Nevertheless, I look forward to...
Read moreMy mom wanted to grab Sunday lunch and she was in the mood for seafood but not American seafood, she wanted Mexican seafood aka mariscos. She lives in the Atascocita area and there aren't any latin seafood places nearby. The closest we came to finding a mariscos restaurant was Mannys. I was skeptical but was limited in options so we went. She ordered the shrimp parrillada, she said it was OK. It comes with a small order of shrimp fried rice but was a bit greasy almost mushy. I was in the mood for tex mex so I ordered the molè enchiladas. They were exactly what I was expected. They were good and sweet. My personal preference is maybe a bit more heat in the mold sauce. The staff was the highlight. They were very friendly and helpful. When my mom couldn't decide what to order, they made some nice suggestions. We sat in the patio area because it was such a beautiful day in Houston. It sunny and cool . My mom ordered the churros for dessert but they had too much , brown sugar?? Usually churros have cinnamon and sugar but these had a brown thick powder covering the churro. After dusting them off ,the churros were not bad. Overall food was ok but the staff and environment made this place a nice place to go when you want some tex- mex/seafood spot on a rare cool and not humid day...
Read moreMy friend introduced me to this place. Her friends dad, Manny, actually owns the place. She told a story about how Manny used to sell chicles in the streets of Mexico and now he’s the owner of this popular authentic Mexican restaurant. She recommended this place after I told her that I wanted some good menudo. A lot of places here in Houston sell menudo but not all are really good.
Starting with the chips and salsa. Chips were fresh and tasty. Green salsa came standard and was very chunky and flavorful. Red salsa pack just enough heat to keep you coming back.
Back to the menudo, this place I gotta say is legit! The broth has a signature taste. I got the small portion and I felt like it was just the right amount. Didn’t feel blotted afterwards. It came with 3 homemade corn tortillas, which were delish! Also came with onion, cilantro, and lime.
There’s a lot of natural light because of all the windows. The place is very clean and staff is friendly. Quick service too. This place seems perfect for large groups because of the big open...
