Gluten free items marked clearly on menu and gluten free/celiac safe. Separate fryer for gluten free items. We were in the DC area and tried to look for Asian food on Uber eats. We saw this restaurant on Uber with some gluten free menu items. The dishes marked gluten free clearly on Uber so I called the restaurant to make sure. The owner is very knowledgeable about gluten free. So I ordered with her on the phone instead Uber and went in person to pick up the food. She told me they started to do gluten free dishes about 5 years ago due to the high demand of gluten free/celiac customers in the area. She has a separate fryer just for gluten free dishes and understand to separate the kitchen area to void cross contamination. It is hard to find some Chinese restaurants that have gluten free dishes on the menu. We ordered gluten free Mongolian beef, string beans with chicken, egg fried rice and chicken cream corn soup. The food was delicious and fresh. My celiac son ate and...
Read moreTHE BEST ASIAN FOOD IN THE COUNTRY!!! SERIOUSLY, THE FOOD IS BETTER THAN PF CHANG'S, TYSONS! The outside of this place looks like a hole in a wall BUTT YOU KNOW WHAT 'they' SAY ABOUT HOLE IN THE WALLS, they usually have the BEST FOOD. It's true, I love fine dinning in OT and the atmosphere but frankly, ASIA WOK IS THE BEST! I moved here 10 yrs ago and a coworker told me about the wok, who knew! Oh, and the couple who manage the restaurant are a husband / team, they are wonderful people. I'd love to volunteer to work on the outside of the place, plant new plant, etc. if anyone else is interested in doing this to help the couple out, feel free to join me. Since Covid they stopped serving lunch except WEDNESDAYS, they are at the Wok from 4 to closing. They are the hardest working couple I've ever met. Thank you Managers for being a part of our neighborhood and serving the BEST EVER ASIAN...
Read moreJust ordered from Asian Wok Cafe for the first (and probably last) time. I went for the lemon chicken, and I’ll admit — it looked fantastic. The presentation was spot-on, with delicate lemon slices draped over the chicken and a glossy lemon sauce that practically begged me to dig in.
Then I took a bite.
It was, without exaggeration, the driest chicken I’ve ever tried to eat. Like, “chewing straw” dry. Whatever’s happening in that kitchen, it’s not undercooking — quite the opposite. It’s a shame, because the sauce was tasty, but no amount of tangy glaze can rescue chicken that could double as a chew toy.
To top it off, it’s pricier than other Chinese spots around. Between the overcooked meat and the higher cost, this one’s a miss for me. Beautiful presentation, terrible execution. Won’t be...
