I frequent this location and the one in delray for many many years no problems until...last Friday my birthday. I checked the website and it stated happy hour til 7 at the bar. I met with friends there, they got there about 5:30/6 I asked them to confirm it was still happy hour about 6 as I was pulling up about 6:15 pm my friends and family said no. I'm pretty cool with the manager there so when I got there I spoke with him about the false information on the website. He said they stopped it at 6 pm, this was also stated to my friends and family and that it's been like that for 7 months now. I told him they may want to update the website because it gives false pretenses to patrons who plan to be there before the stated time on the website. He said I have to get off early lol really? In 7 months no one could change the time on the site or even have a sign posted at the door or bar? I wasnt happy at all. And I love this place! My go to by myself and with others. He also stated they stopped the happy hour early because ppl would just come to the bar for a happy hour drink and then go order at the table ummm yes nothing wrong with getting a good deal anywhere wth? I've done this at other restaurants and they haven't changed their hours and still make good money. Very disappointed. Along with the server my sister warned me he was a little rude to them before and not attentive at all. I arrived and ordered my regular shrimp n chicken I got shrimp and steak! He and I confirmed my order before he walked away. He asked them were they ordering a lot of food at the bar...what difference did that make idk. I've sat at the bar and ordered main courses no problem please get it together this was and hopefully continue to be my favorite place. We also suggested if the hours are by location that should very well be stated...
Read moreIf I could give -5 stars for atmosphere I would. 1pm on a Sunday afternoon my family thought it would be nice to meet up and have a nice lunch as we had done before at the same location during covid. This time the inside was freezing and the outside had a giant speaker with lights all over it and the wait staff hanging all around it. We asked if they wouldn’t mind turning it down a little so we could have a conversation without yelling at each other for which they agreed so we sat outside, it was pleasant there was still music but at a reasonable level at first, our food was served and about halfway through they decided to crank up the music again. When we asked why the big guy pointed at the 4 other people sitting across the outdoor patio with us saying it was for them. We tried to carry on for a while. My poor dad 82 and hard of hearing and has a hard enough time in a quiet room communicating is now cupping his ears and we are all yelling trying to communicate with him. Eventually after us repeatedly asking and them turning it down and then back up again I stand up and walk over to the nice young woman who is standing by the giant stereo and try to bribe her with $10 pleading with her and explaining our situation and that we haven’t seen each other in many months etc. she did not accept the money but she did turn it down. Now if this was a Saturday evening I would totally get it 100% BUT THIS IS A SUNDAY AFTERNOON folks and they can’t be reasonable? I’ve never been compelled to resort to bribery for trying to have a comfortable experience at a restaurant before. I’m guessing we were not welcome there because of our age? We will not be returning to this location ever again…and I may just boycott them now entirely (I live half a mile from the one in Delray and have been going there...
Read moreThis place looks like it's something to try as it has a lot of people that go there - or at least, that's what it looks like. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice: it has music playing, nicely decorated, and even live music from a gentleman with his guitar - which is nice. The service itself is not great, but it's not bad.
Food wise, it needs work. If you're the type of person that's not that familiar with Hispanic food or don't mind your food not having that much flavor, then this is the place for you.
We ordered the "Chile con Queso" as an appetizer - it was ok, nothing that special... it was with cheddar cheese & were accompanied by the house chips that were extremely thin served with a house salsa that could've been better. Then, my hubby asked for steak tacos al carbon & he said that they were in desperate need of seasoning.
I decided to go with the bistec encebollado which is a grilled outside skirt steak topped with sautéed onions - served with white rice, black beans and a small salad. The steak was cooked correctly, however, it wasn't seasoned... it was also COVERED by onions (it's not supposed to be like that, I make this dish in my home) and onions are supposed to complement the dish, not overpower it - it's not like this covers the fact the steak has no flavor. The rest of the plate was not bad, just lacking flavor as well.
Would I say this place is awful? No. But I wouldn't come back to eat here nor I can't in good conscience recommend this place to any of my acquaintances. Enter at your own risk... you might get better food elsewhere for...
