UPDATE MB went above and beyond to make things right.

This review is for MB’s customer service. I’m a repeat customer. I place delivery orders every time I have company or special occasions. Most recently, I made an order of six toaster pastries to be delivered on my birthday--one order of Toaster Pastries #1 and one order of Toaster Pastries #2.

I received a call from “Tom” the morning of the delivery. He said they didn’t have Toaster Pastries #1 and asked if I wanted other flavors instead, so I asked for a trio of the fall flavors as replacement.

But when the order arrived, I found that Tom had also replaced my order of Toaster Pastries #2 with the fall flavors as well, with one exception…one of the pastries was replaced with chocolate coconut (I’m allergic to coconut).

I called Tom back because this was not at all what I had ordered, and I just wanted a refund at this point. Tom sighed and had me put the order back outside for someone to pick up.

I’ve never heard of a restaurant/bakery wanting their incorrect food back. It wouldn’t be sanitary for MB to resell those, so I hope they didn’t. MB wanting them to be returned just seems petty.

I am disappointed by the entire experience and by how MB would treat a repeat customer after they messed up my order so badly. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from MB...

Can someone say HEAVEN!! This bakery is the stuff dreams are made of!! Their cakes taste so delicious it's like eating a slice of heaven. I found out about this bakery during a job retreat at the Hilton hotel in Virginia. I saw the cake from afar during lunch and I was like I have to try it! Myyyyyyyyyyyy goodness the second I bit into that cake I started bragging on it to my coworkers! Damnnn mannn! Holy shiittt! you got to try this! Sure, enough my coworkers did, and they fell in love as well. I asked one of the workers at the hotel do you make this cake in house, and he said no we order it. I asked who is this company that makes it, and he said MB BAKERY ON THE GO then he provided me with their contact info. The second I got back to my office I went to their website and damn near fell out my chair looking at those delicious cakes! Since then, I have order two cakes for my mother, and I have ordered a few pies for my office. Everyone who had a slice of their cake has asked me for their contact information. This bakery is by far in my opinion the best cake maker in the DMV area HANDS DOWN! Iam actually shocked they are not listed in Washingtonian Magazine as the best cake maker in the DMV because clearly, they are! Keep up the good work because your cakes are...

I was looking for a bakery in the Alexandria area ( we live in New England) to surprise our special friends for their anniversary and commenced to google “ best bakery in Alexandria, VA. Well, Marybeth’s popped up in my search at top of the list. After reading the ratings/reviews and looking at other places in the area with good reviews as Marybeth’s, we decided to give Marybeth’s a call. We spoke to her husband who was very friendly and said someone will contact us about our last minute order. Nicole called back ( just as nice and friendly as Marybeth’s husband) and helped me with ordering a cake, a carrot cake that is. Nicole very pleasant and helpful with surprising my friends with a 31st anniversary Carrot cake. Being that I’ve never been to that particular area nor Marybeth’s and was a little nervous, I ordered that cake based on the customer service received on the phone. A few hours later, we got a text with pictures of the beautiful carrot cake and was told “ this cake is beautiful, It’s delicious especially the icing, it’s loaded w nuts and pineapples in the icing”. So, what we thought was an on the whim inquiry ended up being a delicious 31st anniversary carrot cake and now a go to place for our friends. They loved it!!!...
