This place is turning out to be a family favorite. The food is consistently good and our server always looks to take care of us. There plenty of free parking so going here is no trouble at all. The setting is very casual. We continue trying new dishes but definitely have some favorites that are hard not to order because they are so good. Some favorites are the fried string beans and chongqing chicken. We recently tried the Dan Dan noodles, which were very good (but I think I make better). I loved the noodles themselves and there was a perfect amount of meat and sauce. My family really loves the mayo tofu.
Always consistently delicious food. In a strip mall, there’s plenty of free parking available. It can get busy here but getting seated immediately should not be a problem. Because it gets busy you sometimes have to flag down your server. The atmosphere is nice, casual, and sort of unique. This place has a fusion feel to the food, with everything consistently delicious. This last trip we had our favorite, the chongqing spicy chicken (order this every time), Chinese lettuce, potato green pepper and eggplant, country style pork, and scallion pancakes. Mmmmm.
This place has consistently great food. For starters, you will easily find free parking in the lot right outside the restaurant. There’s adequate seating and a very cool environment but be aware it can get busy. The food has fantastic flavors with a hint of fusion, and the perfect amount of spices and seasonings. Along with the chongqing spicy chicken (one of our favorites), we tried the fried string beans, pan fried pork belly buns, and home style crispy pork loin. Everything was delicious.
I found this place by specifically looking for Chinese and it turned out great. There’s plenty of parking for the building but I do think this place can get busy. The setting has really cool designs on the wall and is very different from other Chinese restaurants. The food options were non-traditional and seemed almost fusion. The flavors were deep and delicious. My one criticism is it was slightly difficult placing an order because there was only one iPad (recommend servers use paper and pen). As an aside, rice...

Kungfu Kitchen is a new addition to the Alexandria restaurant scene that focuses on Chinese cuisine. From soup dumplings to hand-pulled noodles, Kungfu Kitchen serves a diverse and eclectic variety of Chinese food. This is indeed the same Kungfu Kitchen started by Chef Peter Song in Flushing, Hell's Kitchen, and Midtown East in New York.
I'd say their xiao long bao (XLB) and the hand-pulled noodles are their most popular items. The XLB are made fresh by hand every single day. While I would prefer Din Tai Fung or Nan Xiang any day, the XLB here are in the top five in the DC metropolitan area. The dough isn't too thin or thick, the filling is substantial, and there's a decent amount of soup inside the dumpling.
My typical order here is one of their hand-pulled noodle soups. I will alternate between hand-pulled and hand-cut (dao xiao), as I like both. I'm a big fan of their hand-pulled/hand-cut noodles. Plenty of noodles, proteins (I like alternating between beef, pork, and roast duck), veggies, and soup. You can also just order hand-pulled noodles without soup (aka in the kitchen, wrist twistin' like a stir fry).
They also serve dim sum here, with popular dim sum dishes like scallion pancakes, shao mai, spring rolls, pork buns, and steamed buns. There are also common stir-fried dishes like stir-fried tomato and egg (one of my favorite dishes growing up), shredded beef, and spicy tofu.
I've always had great service here, whether I'm eating in or doing takeout. I sincerely hope they thrive for years. We need more authentic Chinese restaurants like...
Read moreGood food, disappointing service!
My husband and I visited this place on a Wednesday afternoon. The atmosphere was super strange when we entered the restaurant---there were couple people eating there but nobody was talking. Despite this initial oddity, we proceed to place our order. The waitress seemed very cold and disinterest towards us. Throughout our interaction, she displayed a lack of attentiveness, failing to make any eye contact and neglecting to serve us water until we had to specifically request it… To add to the disappointment, our table was positioned against a half-wall, and instead of serving our food directly from the walkway adjacent to our table, the waitress inexplicably handed our dishes while she was standing on the other side of the half-wall. As a result, both the dish and the rice were placed on an unoccupied seat, despite the fact that my husband and I were seated on the side facing the walkway (we were sitting on a four people dining table). This blatant oversight in proper service protocol was disconcerting and disrupted our dining experience. We also overheard that the previous customer didn’t left any tip which was not a surprise to me. We needed up left a 15% tip only due to the good food. Regrettably, the poor level of service we encountered cannot be overlooked, and we urge the owner to seriously reconsider employing such an...
