Miss Shirley's Bakery — Restaurant in Alexandria

Stopped by initially to see how early they open (5am, folks, like a bakery should be). Decided at the last minute to go in. There was a display case of donut products (donuts, eclairs, cream filled treats, etc) that looked almost empty. This was at noon, so they had done a good job of selling what they'd made. They have a large chalk board that prices cakes, pies, the donuts, and a couple of other specialties. One display case was clean and empty. There was a loud conversation about the behavior of some unfavorable customers between a woman in an apron who was folding some boxes and another gentleman leaning at the end of the counter. There was quite a bustle of activity among the three or four other workers, and they all appeared to be cleaning up and trying to close. The young lady that waited on me seemed a little dazed, and was obviously inexperienced at waiting on customers, but she was pretty young, too, like maybe middle school aged. This place is serving raw donuts!! I called twice and the owner refuses to correct the order, refund me, or call back to resolve the issue. he also gets very defensive when you call them out on their work, so here goes a review. I ordered 2 dozen and all of them were completely raw filled with dough, this isnt the first time this has happened. I served these to small children, this is just unacceptable !! I do have more pictures and video. If we end up sick you will be hearing from my attorney. do better Miss Shirley's!!

Do not leave a message under my review when everytime I call I am instructed to leave a message because you're "out of town." I left my name and number more then once, if this was urgent to you and you wanted to make it right you had every opportunity to call me back. Do better Miss Shirleys!! And stop serving...

I go here every Saturday morning to get donuts. Their staff is friendly and patient with my hearing loss. This morning I dropped a box of donuts while exiting the store (in the lot) and most of the donuts that I bought fell out onto the ground. I went back inside to buy a handful of replacements, and when I went to pay they said no charge. I explained that it wasn't their fault that I dropped them, but they said not to worry about it and have a nice day.

I like that this place has a small family owned feel about it but is in a great location and has modern feel to it at the same time. I will continue to bring my business to them as long as I am in...
