China Moon — Restaurant in Algoma

after a long day we got take out from china moon on 9/2. we were staying in algoma for a couple of nights. the exterior of the business was a bit run down—we almost thought it may be closed/out of business. when we went inside we could see that they no longer offer in house dinning, so we got take out (this was no issue). the service was fast about 15 minutes. we had *general tso chicken, *chicken fried rice with veg, *pork dumplings, *egg roll and *hot & sour soup.

it was all very good. the general tso chicken was the perfect balance of flavor—i honestly don’t find that often with the dish. the brown sauce that is in the vegetable with chicken fried rice is so savory and delicious and with variety of vegetables. egg rolls were crispy, tasty, and perfect size. pork dumplings are very generous size and filling. my only dislike was the hot and sour soup as it just had too much chili flake in every bite. perhaps this was an error, as these things happen from time to time. i was so disappointed because it had that delicious classic h&s soup flavor otherwise and packed with mushroom, bamboo, tofu etc.

everything was large enough portion that we had left over for lunch the next day. we will be sure to be back again next time...

Horrible! Will not be back. We ordered shrimp Rangoon’s, crab Rangoon’s, general tsos chicken, and chicken with mixed vegetables. The general tsos chicken was burnt to the point it could not be eaten. It smells, looks, and tastes burnt. Both types of Rangoon’s were small and had very little filling. The sweet and sour was bland. The fried rice tasted burnt and had very little flavor. For spending 30 dollars, I am very disappointed as almost all of it will be thrown away. I do not recommend this place and will drive to Green Bay from now on if I want...

This was something of a mixed bag for me.

The fried rice was pretty good; the beef and broccoli was top-notch! I would rate at 4-5 stars based on those two dishes.

However, the chicken with cashews was rather mundane. The pupu platter had some subpar components. The egg roll filling was a little off. The chicken wings were dry. The crab rangoon were overdone and light on filling.

The service was prompt. We came in near the end of the day, so it’s possible we just caught them...
