Excellent place to buy fishing gear and tackle! They have EVERYTHING!!! Super helpful and nice (female) owner! We are novice/intermediate fishermen. Went in first to check the place out (I’m from the area but my fiancé is from out of town and had never been in the store before). Bought some lures for upcoming salmon tournament and some other little odds and ends. Found that their prices were not only competitive, but in some cases, lower than big sporting goods stores and comparative to Amazon! That is unheard of in a small town store! We went back an hour later and bought two new rods and reels! The owner answered all of of our questions with great knowledge and helped us choose what best suited our needs. She also helped us pick out the best line and spooled onto the reels for us. They have more selection than the big guy sporting goods stores! I’ve never seen so many moonshine lures (my favorite) in my life!!! This is a destination that all fishermen need...
   Read moreIf you like “boutique” tackle stores with mood lighting, beautifully mounted trophy fish on the wall, and outrageous prices...this isn’t the place for you. But if you like a huge selection of tackle for Great Lakes fishing, at very good prices...then go to Algoma Hardware.
It’s nothing fancy. You might have to squeeze through a couple of the aisles, and step over a box or two...but they’ll probably have what you need, and the nice lady will help you with any questions you might have.

Half of the lights are out, there's smashed lightbulbs all over the floor, certainly there's rodents living in there... but, that being said... it's definitely, um, 'interesting'. There seems to be stock from over the decades, so there's probably cool collectible stuff hidden among the hardware and sporting goods... just wear sturdy shoes and bring...
