Hungry truck driver smiles and pats his happy belly would be the title of my review. I ordered from Thumka through Uber Eats last night and had it delivered about 8 miles away. I ordered curry chicken and rice.
First, the delivery. The food came earlier than expected. The driver was super friendly and knowledgeable about what she was even delivering. A++
Second, the meal. I cleaned it all up. There were no inedible parts of chicken. None. Chicken was tender in the curry. I cut it with a plastic fork while sitting in the bunk of the semi truck. The curry... Wow! I was sweating from my forehead, my eyes watered, my nose ran, and I couldn't stop shoveling it in my mouth whether it was with rice, chicken or both! I would definitely say yes, if anyone offered it to me again. The rice was white-ish so it wasn't the sticky kind. More like the rice a step up that has a slight something to it for taste. Fancier than I normally get at a Chinese restaurant, for example. It soaked in the curry exquisitely. Each forkfull was eagerly anticipated after the first one. A++
You get what you pay for. This wasn't the dollar menu at Mickey D's, and it didn't taste like it, either. It was delicious from start to finish. It was prepared and delivered faster than expected, but still delivered on taste and quality 100%. I happily recommend giving their food a try if you like a little sweat inducing, happiness producing meal. The portion was perfect-sized for one man sitting in a truck. Thank you Thumka, for partnering with Uber Eats so that I was able to sample your culinary delights in the comfort of my own truck several miles away. I wish you great karma and great...
Read moreExcellent food, a gem in the middle of the bland casserole land known as the Midwest. Amazing, soft, warm naan and plenty of variety in dishes and appetizers. I haven't had Indian curry since I was in Cardiff a few years ago, so I was beyond excited to try this place. I love that they divided the menu into vegetarian and meat-eater sections; makes it easier for everyone.
When I called to ask about the rice and naan portion sizes, the man on the other end was polite and helpful in explaining how much of each to order. We ordered for pickup, and service was relatively prompt. The inside of the restaurant (what I could see) was clean and looked nice. As soon as I brought the food into my car, the air filled with the delicious scent of warm spices. I almost chowed down right there and left my family to fend for themselves, but in the end I knew this meal would be best enjoyed when shared.
The first bite of this food was like the scene in Ratatouille when Remy tastes the cheese and fruit together and the black screen fills with flitting, dancing colors and smooth jazz; the food from here tastes so warm and spicy and good, and all the flavors work together so well. The rest of my family enjoyed their food, too, though if you're not good with spices, make sure you order your meal at the mild spice level. My only sorrow is that I was visiting family when I had this delectable taste experience, and I live in the cornfields of Indiana, much too far away to order for dinner the same day. Alas! I say enjoy this food if you’re anywhere in the area....
Read moreI went here for a birthday lunch with a friend from out of town and it was absolutely delicious! We had the veggie samosas, garlic naan, butter chicken, vegetable biriyani and mango lassis. I've had Jasla it was good but it is pricey, the portions are small for what you're paying and the heat level is just a bit much for me. Thumka's prices are reasonable and the portions are big. There were two of us for lunch and there's enough left over for dinner. The veggie samosas I have been wanting to try for so long. They're very crispy and flavorful, not dry at all. The two chutneys are delicious but I'm more towards the green one. The level of heat for both the butter chicken and veg biriyani were perfect. The chicken in the butter chicken was tender and not dry at all. Not too hot at all for either. The mango lassis are probably THE best I've every had. Right amount of sweetness and perfect for a dessert or use it to douse the heat a little.
I only have three negative comments about the place. I wish the naan bread was a little more garlicky and crispy but delicious none the less. Just a little more salt on the veggie biriyani. Need a larger size Mango lassi (I'd gladly pay more).
Absolutely delicious! I definitely will be back to try more...
