Wanna preface this by saying, I was not going to write this review had my nails lasted, but they barely did for 10 days. 🥲 Not only did two pop off today— the white in my French tip collected debris on the daily like the paint was set poorly. I have never… ever… had these problems (and the ones I’ll list below) when I’ve gotten my nails done before. In fact, I was able to refill the same nails for three months the last time I got them done and the only reason they didn’t last is because I took them off myself.

Below is what my 80$ trip to Coco Nail bar entailed:

Poor communication: The woman who did my nails took gentle redirection so poorly. I showed her a very clear reference to the nails I wanted and I had to explain several times what design I wanted on each nail and sometimes it felt like she was arguing with me about… what I wanted? Furthermore, she was using the wrong colors. This part was almost the worse part for me because I was so excited to get some brown, beach vibe nails— and she kept applying egg shell white and the wrong shade of browns. I honestly felt it was due to laziness because the picture was right there. I also felt that my passiveness was being taken advantage of— which leads me into my next point

Aggression: As I previously stated, I felt I was being passive— so I tried to speak up for what I wanted more clearly and I was met with blatant aggression. I’m 20 years old, I don’t make much money for myself, so getting my nails done is a serious treat— and I wanted them done at least close to how I envisioned ): … anyways, I pointed out that my flower design was the wrong size and my nail artist exclaimed “oh my god!”, put down her materials, and started to yank the design off my finger. This really hurt 🥲 and I had to roll back my chair and explain to her that she was both hurting me physically and upsetting me with her attitude. Granted, she apologized, I rolled back— and she completed the job— but I knew then and there I was never going to come back again.

Her attitude the whole time was so unwelcoming and at times aggressive. I figured I could let bye gones be bye gones…. But all that for my nails to fall off 10 days later? Oh, cmon. That level of arrogance should be met with high quality work…

Quality of Job: Other than my artists attitude— I absolutely hated my nails ): oh gosh, I hated them. I asked her to make sure the curve of the French tip was higher up like my reference (another instance in which she scoffed at me)— and that request was not honored.

The nails in general are thick… it’s just not a clean, even job. I’ve been lowk embarrassed by the job done by them, but decided to stick it out yk? But again, there was debris in the paint that I had to scrub out and they didn’t last even two weeks. That’s called a waste of time and money lol.

I also have to say, I asked her to not even do the full design because she was doing such a poor job and I was alreasy upset by her mild outburst. So I didn’t even really stand up for what I wanted frl bc her attitude wore me down.

If you want chique, Pinterest-esque, nails that LAST… girl, please don’t come here 😭 they’re probably good for other services but don’t do acrylics mama.

My visit there was on June 11, roughly 5pm if anyone wants to line my story up with the security cameras. I was in light colored jeans and an oversized white-tee with a blue and orange striped design at the bottom. I also have blonde highlights and curly hair.

This was my 1st experience at coco nail bar. I made an appointment based on the recommendation of a coworker who's nails always look on point.

I'll start by saying I called on a whim when I got off super early from work. It was a Saturday morning with Christmas 2 weeks away... I never expected to get in. To my surprise I did!!! I was able to get in for a pedicure and a full set. The receptionist was super friendly and accommodating.

Upon arriving at the salon...I was greated immediately and checked in. I was offered a beverage and escorted back to my pedicure chair. The salon is bright, clean with a cheery, upbeat and festive atmosphere. There were tvs throughout the salon playing either music videos or nail art videos which I found oddly calming and gratifying. The receptionist brought me a bottle of water and the nail color book. I will say I loved the book! So much more pleasant to look at than half empty bottles of old polish or busted nail swatches out of a basket. Very clean organized and easy to look at.

I also was given a pedicure option book. It clearly stated the cost, the benefits, the length of time and ingredients being used. I chose the milk and honey pedicure . Yes it was an upgrade and yes it was worth every penny. Cherry did my pedicure. She was friendly, personable and constantly checked on my comfort and asked me if the various Temps of the different stages of treatment were OK. . I will definitely be back to see her.

On to my full set....a very different experience than my pedicure. The gentleman that did my nails was quiet, and seemed bothered that his break from one of the pedicure chairs was cut short. As he started to remove the old no chip off my nails he asked what color I wanted. I asked him if he was creative and artistic. I said I would really like happy festive Christmas nails and he could have free reign for artistic creativity. He asked if I had a picture of a design and I said no. I didn't know I was getting my nails done today. He went silent. Meanwhile the girl next to me was getting very intricate beautiful Christmas designs on her nails. After he finished getting the set done he asked me once again what color I wanted...I asked if he had come up with any design ideas or if he didn't want to...and the only response he had was he could use a red color...(specifically the one the girl next to me was using) no other ideas or input. I was a little confused and a tad surprised. If he would have said nailart wasn't his specialty i would have understood. Showed no interest at all. So I said i would just do the same color as my toes, but gel. So he proceeds to paint my nails then he gets out white polish and I was like ok he's got something up his sleeve. Then proceeds to glance over at monet's masterpiece next to him and proceeds to breakout a kindergarteners attempt at a snow flake. He paints one on each of my ring fingers and asks if I want it on all of my fingers....oohhhhh no no thank you...it was awful an I didn't have the heart to ask him to take it off.. I just feel that my nail tech either doesn't like what he does, or just didn't want to be there at all. His work is sloppy, I have extra product under my nails, the shaping is just OK and I have flat spots on several nails. I would have respected honesty than awful nail art. I realize everyone has different skill sets but after seeing the pics online and the masterpiece unfolding next to me...my pathetic snowflake was grossly disappointing.

I gave 4 stars because of my overall experience and 1st impression of the salon. Had it been based on my full set alone I would have given it 2 stars. Lesson learned. I will ask better questions to get paired up with a tech that has the...

My mom loves coming here for her manicures and always leaves satisfied. This time, unfortunately, she left crying and in pain. I understand there was a language barrier and the photo my mom used as a reference showed short nails, but this misunderstanding should not have left my mother in pain. She got her natural nails cut too short that has caused pain and swelling around the nails. The skin under the nail is now compromised and can lead to infection. Thankfully it has not led to infection but it caused a lot of pain that she couldn't touch anything without hurting. At first they said that they couldn't do anything about it and if she wants acrylic nails she would have to pay extra on top of what they charged her. She left crying and I had to come back the next day to tell them that it was unprofessional to have nail technicians cut her nails way too short. They should be trained to not cut that short for the risk of infection. I tried to sympathize with them by understanding that she showed a reference picture of short nails and that might have led to a miscommunication. I was very understanding of this but they weren't reciprocating any sympathy or understanding for my mom on having her nails cut too short where it's painful and the skin underneath the nail is exposed. The picture used for reference did not have that short of nails, so for them to cut them super short where it's painful is unacceptable. The least they did was issue a 20$ gift card after cutting nails way too short. It wasn't even the nails she wanted in the first place; she wanted a french tip but she told them how they could possibly apply the french tip design if her nails are too short. It was impossible. I wish she was treated more with empathy. I understand the language barrier but the cutting of nails too short isn't okay. The least they could've done was apply fake nails/ acrylic over her nails to have them look like the reference photo. Instead, they charged for her bad manicure and exposing her skin...
