It's extremely rare that a restaurant experience angers me to the level where I am about raise my voice at an employee, but the shift leader at the Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Alhambra managed to bring me to an internal boil. The situation is simple. I am at the counter to order 2 plates to go. In the middle of the order my wife texts me and asks me to change her order. I ask if I can change the order and the woman who took my order said it was fine, and she changed the order in the system. I received 1 plate about 5 minutes later, and I waited for the 2nd plate.... and waited... and waited... and waited. While the other customers with order numbers after mine started receiving their orders, I asked where my 2nd plate was. I got the runaround from one employee. 5 minutes later, I asked the woman who seemed like the shift manager, and she went to the person who took my order to see what happened. Then this shift manager tells me that the order is late because I changed the order. Meanwhile, I'm wondering why she's blaming this on me, but I decide to wait longer. My order doesn't come out for another 10 minutes, and keep in mind that about 10 people who ordered after me had received their orders by then. I would have been fine if there was a simple apology for the delay, but there was not one single apology, and to add insult to injury, the shift manager blamed it on me for changing the order. This location needs to seriously train its staff on...
Read moreOrdered the Hawaiian BBQ mix for delivery. Giant portion (see picture), one large chicken piece, one large piece of the short ribs and a decent size portion of the BBQ Beef. This was my first time eating Hawaiian bbq outside of Hawaii and the chicken was spot on, the ribs were delicious as well, both super tender, juicy and packed with flavor. Never had the beef before and it's just not my taste. Too greasy for me.
The meal comes with 2 scoops of regular white rice and a serving of pasta salad. Pasta salad was not as sweet as most places and just a light amount of mayo. Overall decent. The fresh mix side salad comes with a light ginger dressing (yellowish color), that reminds me of the dressings that often are served at sushi spots.
For utensils they gave me a spoon and a fork, no knife, which made it inconvenient to eat the large pieces of meat. Also, my fountain drink was missing, but that could've been the Uber drivers fault, so no...
Read moreThis location is the worst. It is dirty the food. I ordered a plate with chicken it was literally rubbery because it was so undercooked I didn't Discover it till I got home. Today I went in there I asked for spam well-cooked and it was gooey and looked like it hadn't really even been thrown on the grill. I expressed my bad experiences to the manager, but just like their location I'm sure they can care less. Don't go to this restaurant on Commonwealth I wouldn't recommend it at all ... try another location but not this one. The store number is 2. Stay clear you might end up getting sick don't...
