May's Bakery where is the gender? The purpose of a gender reveal cake is to show what the parents are having! This cake was a fail, and they are trying to blame miscommunication on my part. I live in California, I ordered the cake for my sister and brother in law in Michigan.
They picked it up and cut into it, just to be disappointed that there was no gender to show! When I called to order I asked if they had cherry cake, cherry filling, raspberry cake and raspberry filling. I was told that they had cherry cake, but no filling to match it and no raspberry cake but they had the raspberry filling.
So I ordered a gender reveal cake with cherry cake and raspberry filling. Told them that they could have free range of how to decorate the cake for the gender reveal. Didn’t think I needed to ask or tell them how to do a reveal cake. Figured since she didn’t ask about it, when I told her the gender was going to be a girl; that she/bakery would know how to do that part.
I mean it’s a bakery. Most bakery’s have ways on how that do that. Whether it’s by dying the cake or by putting pink frosting on a section of cake, or using the filling. So again didn’t have a reason to ask on how it would be done. Just figured it was common sense and common practice. But I know next time even if it may appear to be stupid to ask and make sure that the bakery knows how to do a reveal cake.
Also worth adding the fact that the bakery tried to say that the raspberry filling was supposed to be the reveal part. Claiming that was what was talked about. The person taking the order never said that we could use filling as the gender reveal and the person my sister was talking too, told her that the filling was supposed to turn the cake pink which didn’t happen anyway.
It costed $45 which is a great price for what you get, but just wish it was a better cake than what was received. My sister and her husband was looking forward to this cake! This is their rainbow baby so could you imagine being excited to see what you are going to have. Just to be let down and disappointed that the cake...
Read moreBy far the worst experience I ever had in a bakery, first off when I went into the establishment the woman at the front who took my order for my cake had the worst attitude but I let it slide because everyone has bad days. She had a week to make the cake and priced me at $65 which was fine by me considering the short notice and that it was specialized for my birthday. However upon picking up the cake today it looks nothing like the photo. Thankfully I had some items at home to fix it that, in which it still looks awful. I would've appreciated the baker just being honest and explaining that she's not able to make the cake as the photo. When I called the business about this she tried making excuses and explained that all she can do is give me $10 off lol that's so beyond ridiculous I wish I would've just realized that it was slow in there for a reason. I highly do not recommend even entering this place unless you want bad service and a hideous cake. The photo on the left is what I asked for and the photo on the right is what I got and is what I did after to try and...
Read moreI ordered a cake for my wife's birthday. I pointed out a cake in the refrigerator that I wanted her cake to look like. It had the liquid frosting that was all over the top md dripping down thw sides. I specified that I wanted it in Halloween colors. I said purples, green, orange and black. I had my son pick up the order a few days later. He said he stood there for about 15 minutes and then they handed him the box. When it was time to present the cake to my wife, I opened the box, and it was a plain cake with plastic eyes, a plastic skull and plastic spiders. It also had roses on it. The cake I reference had None of this on it. It seemed they didn't make the cake I requested and grabbed a cake from the back and threw some stuff on in. It's VERY disappointing. Especially after I paid over $50 for the cake. I will never be ripped off by May's...
