Mick's On Roosevelt — Restaurant in Allen Park

Stopped by Mick's for a beer and a bite to eat late on a Wednesday. There were about a dozen people there, which seemed like a good crowd for a weekday. They appeared to have recently added some upgrades to the decor. Including a garage door that opened up onto a nice patio. But other portions of the bar, like the bathroom, seemed to remain untouched. The sink had to have been from the 60's or even 50's. We ordered BLT's and it took 30 MINUTES for them to be brought out to us. The BLT was delicious with grilled bread and the hand cut fries were almost perfect. There were a couple bigger chips that were not fully cooked, but they were well seasoned. I did not have draft beer as there was a glass Pyrex of beer swill setting under a row of taps and you could see the beer lines dangling from the ceiling. A portion of the lines were not even insulated, so I knew what temperature that beer was on a warm 88 degree night with no air...

From my experiences at this bar, it was all very average. The menu is typical bar food and really not much more than that. It's not bad, but it's nothing special. I will say that I would like to try their fish on a Friday.

The atmosphere is very average as well. I am glad that they did a bit of a remodel a few years back though. They do have quite a bit going on throughout various times. Some nights they will have karaoke and there have been times where I've gone here and a tent is set up in the parking lot for an event. You can sit outside in the summertime too, which is cool.

Overall, this place ain't bad. It's not my favorite bar but I will say that the waitresses have always been friendly and the food has always been hot when coming in here. I will probably be back here to eat and/or drink...

So for the first half hour after we ordered, the only attention we got from a waitress was when they tried to bring us the wrong food that was meant for a different table. Two different times they said they would bring us silverware, but we never did get any. Eventually they started bringing out some of our food. The rest of our order was either forgotten or taking too long... so we told them to just take it off the bill. The food was just average, nothing we would come back for. Even if they promised us better service. I do want to say, some of the waitresses seemed like they were really trying. So I'm not sure where everything broke down. The place wasn't that full, and it seemed like there were enough staff working. Very tedious experience.. with a lot of waiting for...
