This is our breakfast place. My husband and our two sons go here nearly every Sunday. I rave constantly about how good the food is and how great the service is. The owner can typically be seen wrapping silverware and greeting guests, which gives the place a good “mom and pop” feel. With that said, I would not go to this restaurant on a weekday. Twice now we have invited family and friends to enjoy a meal with us and it has fallen short of what we’ve described. I thought the first time we came with a large party on a Wednesday, it was a hiccup that they messed up a few orders and ovecooked some things. However, after going with a party of 8 this past Wednesday, I now assume the issue is that the owner is not there to oversee the staff on the weekdays. Coffee tasted like liquid cardboard, 6 out of the 6 poached eggs that we ordered were overcooked to the point where the yolk resembled a hard-boiled egg, and 3 out of the 5 hash brown orders we had came out cold (cold like they were not cooked thoroughly, not that they were old). I left feeling like I severely overhyped this place, yet again. I am not one to complain, especially about a restaurant that has been great time and time again, but I do wish the cooks were as good on weekdays as they are on the weekends! When eggs and hash browns take up half of your menu, you should know how to cook them properly; what over easy is, over medium; etc. Our ticket was $135 after tip and I would say about $20 of the food met the standard that this place usually sets. I’m thankful the waitress suggested hot chocolate (which every person ordered and happily enjoyed) so my son’s birthday meal wasn’t a...
Read moreNice and cozy place, pretty clean inside. Went there as two adults and two kids on Sunday morning and was seated right away with an option of having a table or a booth, which is nice as in other places waiting time could take up to 1hr sometimes without choice of where to be seated.
Server did a good job being there quickly and answered all our questions since it was our very first visit. Minus the fact that my wife insisted to replace the plate which was intended to use by one of the kiddos and was scuffed up all the way and not really looked pretty. Instead of not bringing that plate in the first place or replace it right away the server tried to explain that it’s not dirty but just marked all over which is a bit unprofessional and made all of us felt little awkward. No biggie, but could be avoided not even reaching out the table and leaving a better impression, since overall she was nice and did a good job offering some coloring pages for kids and not even being asked once to do the refills for the drinks.
We ordered a Caramel Pecan Waffle, Strawberry Crepes and Banana Nutella Crepes. Pretty good size of portions, we’re all got full and even took some “to go” leftovers. The crepes themselves were pretty burnt on one side and more on a dry side since they were not stuffed but only covered with thin Nutella paste stripes and whipped cream on the outside, which is not a bad thing but just didn’t met our personal expectations and that’s the way this place serve them. Waffle was a bit dry too, but worked with a little syrup on the top.
Overall, definitely place to go for a breakfast with family, but will try to avoid...
Read moreWe decided to visit his cafe since we are going to Allen Outlets. It was full and we had wait around 20 minutes for a table. We were seated and the server was polite and asked for our orders. She told us the order would be quick since it wasn't anything out of the ordinary but we still had to wait around 20 min for the food. Probably due to place being packed.
The menu and style looks soo familiar as other places like Lonestar Cafe and Starwood Cafe which makes me believe it's the same owners.
My food arrived and it was hot but there was no flavor. The eggs didn't have any salt or pepper and the hashboards didn't have any seasoning. The corned beef hash was super salty and looks like it was from a can. The dish just didn't seem like something I'll go out of way to eat.
My friends dish was burrito and it was the same issue. No real flavor and used all the salsa on about 1/4 of the burrito.
The thing that made us feel that we wouldn't come back is that our table was below a AC vent. The vent was dripping condensation onto the table so we had to eat at an awkward angle as not to get drops on our food or heads. We informed the server but she just chalked it up to "oh well, what are you going to do" instead of offering us a different table to moving it few inches to the left. I didn't see her notify the manager or anyone after...
