We are so thrilled to write this feedback with reference to the catered food delivered by Nirvana Indian Kitchen located in Allandale NJ. At Hindu Samaj Temple in Mahwah NJ for 130 Guests. Vikram and Rajesh showed up before the event timing and started setting up on two long rectangle tables. They display over 10 black racks with Chafing fuel warmers to serve all Indian Vegetarian food at appropriate warm temperatures and provided option to the guest such that they can pick the food from both side of the table. As per our request, they did set up as self-serve lunch option such that every guest pick appropriate amount of food per their wish. Both were very attentive; refill was very quick and there was no delay. Vegetarian Food Item include the finger leaking Malai Kofta, Aloo Gobi was al dente as per our request, Aloo Pakora as well as Mumbai style Onion Fritters served with two chutneys. Warm Garlic and Plain soft moist butter coated Nann along with Basmati Rice was a treat. The Carrot Halwa with Cashews and Ghee Oozing out was very tempting and delicious the way we requested. In addition, the most delicious Mango Lassi was very complementary. We received lots of positive compliments about the quality of food and the mouth-watering taste from almost every table when we walk around during the lunch time. Even our daughter and Son-in Law’s non-Indian friends were very delighted and had great opinion about this delicious Indian food as well. We believe Nirvana has surpass our expectation as our guests were very happy, satisfied the way they served the food in style. Nirvana provided so much food & were gracious enough to help us to prepare to-go deli cups. This included Malai Kofta, Aloo Gobi as well as Carrot Halwa. Every guest was very eager to pick-up three different deli cup with smile when they were leaving. We believe this was one of the best Indian lunch we served at our Daughter’s Baby Shower event. Read moreI went to Nirvana to try Indian food for the first time and there was a couple of things that bothered me that caused me to give them 3 stars instead of 5. I started off by ordering some samosas, which weren’t bad at all. I ordered naan bread and waited awhile for it which I was upset about because I was starving and didn’t eat anything all day because of my excitement to try Indian food for the first time. The naan finally came after half my food got super warm. Anyways I also ordered the chicken tikka masala for the first time and honestly it was way to sweet for me. My boyfriend just ended up sharing his chicken malai kabob with me, that along with the naan & samosas filled me up. But anyways I end of telling my server I didn’t like the meal hence why there was so much left and all I wanted was for it to be taken off my receipt. She then offers to get me something else I say no thank you. She then tells the manager so basically I had to repeat myself again. He then suggests I order something else I kindly say no. So instead of taking the meal of my receipt he comes back and insist on taking the chicken tikka masala home so I can I quote “add spices to it to make it less sweet” then goes on to say “because the chicken tikka masala is their number 1 requested meals” aka very popular. Now at this point I was annoyed but still had to be polite. My boyfriend saw this just from my face and said he’ll just take it home. Moral of the story is people shouldn’t have to be forced to take something home or pay for something they DO NOT LIKE. I honestly felt pressured and don’t know if I’ll go there again to try...
Read moreTLDR: amazing though on the pricey side for lunch
I stumbled on this place after over hearing someone at work say it was the best in the area. I’m so glad. Cost wise, certainly an expensive lunch, but welll worth the splurge for a midday meal.
I ordered the Bhindi, garlic naan, and dhaba curry (requested spicy). The food all arrived at the same time. The bhindi was served with tamarind, mango, and mint chutney. I’ve never had crispier okra. And the chutneys were so well made and accompanied the okra very well.
The dhaba was AMAZING. My first time having it and looking forward to ordering it again. The bone in tandoori grilled chicken was well seasoned and added extra richness and a slight smokiness to the curry. The garlic naan I assumed would be one small piece, however they brought out a basket to hold one very large piece that had been quartered. For reference each quarter was the size of one piece of frozen Trader Joe’s naan. It was not overly garlicky nor salty. The curry came with basmati rice. I’m not the biggest fan but the rice was well cooked and a generous portion. The curry and bhindi were also generous portions and I have enough for leftovers. I was surprised with how much bhindi was actually served given it was an appetizer it could have been a main course.
I wish I would have ordered dessert but I’ll for sure be back to try out the Sunday buffet and can get some then. I do wish there could be a lunch menu even if it’s a short menu it would be great to allow people to explore the menu at a cheaper price Point and a smaller...
