Village has been one of my favorite places to eat for years now, but I will be avoiding it for awhile after tonight. I ordered online and went in to pickup my order per usual, but quickly became uncomfortable as one of the employees, (presumably a manager, a short, middle-aged woman with brown hair) was walking around the restaurant from the bathrooms to the kitchen and back to the dining area without any type of face covering. As someone living with high-risk family members, this upset me to no end. I did not want to cause a scene or go near her, so I never said anything while I was there, but with daily COVID cases hitting record highs here in the United States one day after the next, I expect far more in terms of safety protocol out of an establishment that serves food to likely hundreds per day. Other employees were wearing masks, but multiple had them pulled down below their noses. It is clear to me that Village does not care enough about the safety and comfort level of their clientele to enforce proper mask protocol within their restaurant. I plan to contact the Allendale mayor's office to file a complaint with them, as Village's negligence could potentially put either myself or one of their other customers...
Read moreBest pizzeria in the tristate area - anyone complaining is just a bitter person trying to take advantage of the kindness of the owners - you can see that they mention “they’ve gone here for years” but then “one bad experience and they expect the the whole world to be handed to them” - the owner tells them the policy and says if they’re not happy with it they can kindly stop giving their business to him because he refuses to get walked on given that he is very generous and kind to all his customers but draws a line when there’s customers who want a refund or free food every other day due to a silly complaint over something trivial - they get enough business so they don’t need the business of cheap or rude clients especially the type to complain about an “accent” - they’re a pizzeria they’re not working as your secretary for the accent to matter and the owners English is perfectly understandable
Have never had an issue with this pizzeria once I only got bothered seeing a few negative reviews because everytime I walk into this place the owner offers me extra stuff free of charge on my order without me even asking but that doesn’t mean I will go and try to take advantage of it like some of the other rude...
Read moreIn 100 years, when all pizzerias and Italian Restaurants serve Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Vegetables as a side option next to pasta, historians are gonna wanna know where this unexpected deliciousness all began.
Village Pizza & Pasta in Allendale. That's where it began.
I've eaten Italian from here to there and all points in between. Never was Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Vegetables EVER an option.
After eating the Eggplant Rollatini with Mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables there last night... It's only a matter of time before this unexpected option catches on.
The mashed and veggies are delicious on their own. So was the Rollatini. But mix a forkfull of the Eggplant, the sauce and melted cheese with some mashed potatoes... !!! Pasta can't compete with this!!
I will NEVER, EVER choose pasta as a side dish if given the option for mashed potatoes (as long as they're prepared this deliciously.)
Seriously. I'd buy an order of the potatoes and vegetables alone. If you need that, skip Boston Market. They can't compete with the quality here. Now add sauce and melted cheese to this and... We got something special here.
Can't wait...
