Disappointing Oxtail Experience at Mikey's

As first-generation Caribbean Americans, my husband and I know a good West Indian meal. We were craving oxtail, but our experience at Mikey's was a letdown.

We had tried Mikey's oxtail last year and were disappointed, but we decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, our experience was just as bad, if not worse.

The oxtail meal was overwhelmingly salty, and the portion sizes were inconsistent. My small order came with five small to medium-sized pieces, while my husband's large order had seven pieces, with only three being larger.

We were both disappointed and frustrated, feeling that our money had been wasted. The excessive saltiness and lack of value for the price make us caution others: eat at Mikey's at your own risk.

I only gave two stars because the texture of the oxtail, which can be hard to get right, was perfect.

Unless they revamp their oxtail recipe, we cannot recommend it. We haven't tried other menu items, but if you're craving...

I ordered the brown stew chicken and a beef patty on 5/22 around noon through Ubereats. The patty was decent, pastry a little soggy and the filling was decent (wish it was more filling considering I paid $4.55 for ONE single beef patty.) The cole slaw was excellent! Not too much or too little Mayo and was crisp, flavorful, and thin chopped, 10/10! The white rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy. I’m very turned off by the little pieces of bones in every bite of the brown stewed chicken. It was as if the chicken bones shattered into tiny pieces when the chicken was cut. Yet they still put the shattered little pieces of bone in the pot when cooking it. Every bit i ate, I had to spit it out and pick out tiny little bits and it was such a turn off I couldn’t enjoy my food. Other than that the chicken was seasoned well-...

As a Caribbean I am so disappointed with the way my “Bake Mac “ was made and taste. As you can see in the picture that’s not appealing and the taste match it. The steam Red snapper had no color and as I was making my way to eat I smelled fish like the sea order type smell so I went and open it and boom a dirty stinky fish not fresh at all 🤮 as you can see in the pic it was not clean. But my wife got the Ox tails and they were great so that’s a plus I guest...
