My Children, My grandchildren and now my great grand son 3 years old is starting to join in on our family fun in the Cracker Barrel old times history hunt for I spi something from the past that you could use for ----? Someone gets to chose what the And we go looking for it one or two at a time then we write down what we think that would be and look like to us and around the area we see what we think something is, this is like a scavenger hunt and my great grand father started this with me as im the oldest grand child on my mothers side and this item's were very much used in my family's daily lives journeys throughout the years and they found it very important for us to have knowledge understanding of this Particular things and how greatful and blessed we are today that we have many easier ways of doing things without using so much time and efforts with manual labor as they had to do in there lifes journeys back in the day as they say it loud and proud . Read moreI was driving across Arkansas yesterday and decided chicken and dumplings (takeout) would be a delicious and quick dinner meal.
The board at the check in stand actually calls out their recommendations for quick service, with chicken and dumplings amongst six or so other suggestions.
Upon ordering the staff member advised it would be 5 - 10 minutes prep time. Great!
After waiting 15 - 18 minutes (I had received periodic assurances during my wait that the order would be completed soon; the young man that had originally taken my order even expressed his regrets for the ongoing delay, and kindly offered a to-go drink on the house) a different staff member went to the kitchen and returned with the news that it would "only" be five more minutes. I was out of patience (and also quite hangry) and told her I was not going to wait any longer.
Back on the road, I called the store manager and expressed my frustration - not seeking anything other than to offer my candid feedback and suggest he find out why this order had gone so fast astray from my usual good Cracker Barrel experiences. He seemed unaware of the issue, and offered his generic apology for my experience.
As it was a bit after eight o'clock pm when I arrived, demand on the kitchen appeared to be very light, so I don't have a clue why this experience...

Once again this is a situation where someone tried to fix something that wasn't broken. The menu has been changed, removing some of the favorite breakfasts, including omelets. My wife was looking for the Sampler which she used to order and ask for all Country Ham. Because of the menu change, she had to "create your own" breakfast, which includes a "sampler" (country ham, bacon and sausage)for no extra charge. Country ham is not a "premium" meat, so she again asked for all ham. She was not asked if she wanted apples or hash brown casserole, but was served both. When I went to pay I found we had been charged for the apples, and extra for the ham. When I spoke with the manager, she said with the menu change ham was now extra if substituted, and the create your own came with a choice of either hash brown casserole or apples, not both. She fixed our ticket and I paid. Food was as usual, scrambled eggs a little runny, sausage burnt, gravy bland, biscuits hard. Staff were all nice, helpful and pleasant to deal with, but I think Cracker Barrel has adjusted itself out of...
