Dairy Queen (Treat) — Restaurant in Alpena

How can you not love this old school Dairy Queen! Now if you don't know what that means, let me help you. This is not a Fast Food Dairy Queen, this is what Dairy Queen started out as! There is no drive thru, or indoor seating. You order at the window, and pick up at the window. There are a few picnic tables near the building if you want to sit and enjoy your Ice Cream. I don't do that often because it's located on a loud, busy road. We usually head up the road to the park where it's a bit more quiet.

The staff here is always helpful! Even when specialty blizzards are removed from the menu, they are more then willing to create them for us anyway! I always appreciate that! OH and they have pup cups...

My Dad used to have an office across the street from this DQ when I was a little guy. 40+ years later, it is better than ever!

Dad and I would always stop here for an ice cream after his chemo treatments. Vanilla was about the only flavor he could taste at the end. Stopping here was the highlight of our day not just because of the ice cream but because of the staff. There is not a friendlier DQ on the planet. Everyone that works here is absolutely amazing. Last time I was back, the young lady that owns it told me she remembered Dad and I coming in and offered her condolences. That meant the world. I will stop here every time I am back in Alpena because of the kindness and good memories. Thank you...

Went here today (08/16) with my son and mother, got my ice cream but forgot about my water. Went up to grab it after the young woman shouted WATER, I said "Oops! Sorry I forgot!" And she replied with "yeah, obviously." I found that very rude, and hurtful as I was trying to have a good evening.... Other than that.... Good ice cream and fast service. Just really wish that didn't ruin my night!
