My two friends and I came here on a Sunday about 1 week ago, around 4:00 pm. We were kindly greeted and seated just fine. As soon as we met our waitress, Melissa, she strongly expressed that we download Marlow's Tavern app ASAP so that we could get "money off". (Keep in mind my friends and I are just simply trying to get a quick meal, nothing else.) Moving on, we get our bill at the end of the meal. My total was $16.63, same as one of my friends. My friend had only had $15.00 on her, so I spotted her the extra $1. When Melissa came back to collect the money she said, "Ladies did we download the app??" My other friend, (the one I wasn't paying for), responded, "No ma'am, we don't come here all that often so it wouldn't benefit us as much, maybe next time." GURLL! Yall should've seen the look on her face she looked pissed as hell. Anyway, now she is collecting our money and I made it CLEAR to her that I was paying my bill including the remaining balance on my friend's bill, which should have come out to $1.63. Keep in mind that Melissa took the cash as well which was the $15. Later while we are in Avalon I see that I got charged TWICE for $16.63! This was NOT supposed to happen considering I specifically told Melissa I was only paying for the remaining balance which was $1.63. My friends and I go back to the restaurant and two people are standing in line in front of us. We see our waitress and she skips the two other people and rudely says, "What's the problem, ladies??!" How did she know there was a problem? Like she must have known I would come back after seeing two charges on my card. I speak up and voiced that there is an incorrect charge to my card. She quickly responds saying,"Oh the register didn't let me charge it for the $1.63, but the charge will disappear at midnight" At this point, I'm just like whatever lady. Anyway, it's the next day and my money still isn't back in my account. Then two days go by, still NO MONEY. Then finally 4 days later I got my money back. Respectfully I love this restaurant, this just was one of my bad...
Read moreCame to the Avalon for some great food and stopped into Kona Grill across the way, got seated there then left alone for 15 minutes, starving, thirsty, and uncomfortable in a very loud area. So we got up and left after waiting so long and walked straight across to Marlow's Tavern
My boyfriend is deaf in his left ear so loud spots is difficult for us. When we came into Marlow's after such a terrible situation in Kona, I saw the crowd and got nervous if this wasn't going to be a good choice as well. But we were led to a nice quiet side and seated in a great spot. Instantly after the woman that sat us down left, our waiter came straight up and poured us some water then helped us with getting started, going over the menu since it was our first time there and gave great suggestions for cocktails for us. He was very knowledgeable of both the food and the drinks. Literally the best service a person can give.
On top of that, the food was great. I usually am a small eater but I ate way more than normal with some amazing honey mustard wings and a juicy tavern burger and the three little birds cocktail.
Even more, the environment is warm colors inside and comfortable. A place you can truly relax. We ended up eating there past 10pm but the service didn't change, we weren't rushed because of closing times. I enjoyed it so much and felt so great to relax and eat with my boyfriend with both of us having crazy work schedules.
Thank you so much...
Read moreI really hate to leave a negative review, especially because this used to be one of my favorite places. But our recent experience was just disappointing.
My brother, his wife, their daughter (my niece), my 8-month-old son, and I stopped by hoping for a nice meal on 7/6/25. As soon as we walked in, we stood at the front for about 7 minutes with no greeting, no acknowledgment, not even eye contact. My brother went to use the restroom during that time, and still no one approached us.
Eventually, I had to speak up and ask, âDoes anybody work here?â A young woman finally came over. She was actually very sweet and sat us down right away, but unfortunately, things didnât improve from there.
We had just come in from the heat, so we were already a bit flustered trying to get the kids settled. Then another 10 minutes passed and no one came to our table. No menus, no water, nothing. With a toddler and an infant, patience wears thin fast, and we ended up deciding to leave.
My brother went to the bar to order a drink to go and an appetizer since he loves their drinks and some of their apps . Even that took over 30 minutes because the bartender was mostly on her phone texting instead of helping customers.
Itâs frustrating because this place used to be such a good spot. I donât know if itâs lack of management, poor staffing, or both, but itâs just not the same anymore. I really hope they turn it around, but as of now, I donât plan on...
