In short, high prices don't equal good restaurants. To go further, the food was highly disappointing and the building was severely lacking. The server was wonderful but unfortunately she can't cook the food too. I do wonder about the culinary background of the chef. It would be interesting to learn if they simply have a line cook or someone who has actually trained to be a chef. It seems they don't have a strong grasp of meat temperatures and have been influenced to think that less seasoning is somehow a benefit. My prime rib was ordered medium and it was borderline rare. My wife's steak was ordered medium rare, and it was well done. The green beans had neither side trimmed off, so it made it for a very tough chew. The risotto had a good texture which is encouraging and show some level of culinary prowess, but had nearly no flavor. The shrimp cocktail was very tasty on the bright side. Also the alcohol was decent. The building is old, and shows in more than one way. The parking lot is in disrepair and the bathrooms did not have a changing table for our daughter. Considering those are about $150 a piece, and our meal ran us nearly $200 after tip, it would be nice to see that added. This place has potential. I would like to see the quality of their food meet their prices. I'm not sure that I will come again, but maybe if they make...
Read moreI took my husband out for his birthday, just the two of us. I regret not taking photos of how lovely the presentation was. It was a wonderful experience. Though it was not a requirement, I made reservations to ensure seating. We ordered Italian sodas (delicious), Caprese salad and the Steak bite appetizers (delicious), Mahi-Mahi and Lobster tail entrees. We were brought tomato soup prior to the course. This was, by far, best tomato soup I've ever had. I am forever jaded, because I don't think any other tomato soup will come close in the future. The lobster tail was the largest lobster tail I've ever seen served in a restaurant, and certainly the best tasting I've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. I would not be concerned with the pricing. Keep in mind that this is fine dining. I would recommend dressing appropriately for the setting, as well. This restaurant is ideal for taking your loved ones out for that special occasion. I wish they were playing different music in the restaurant. Instrumental music, especially classical, would have been ideal. But that does not change the fact that I rate them five stars across the board....
Read moreI had an amazing experience at J’s Steakhouse! I ordered the New York steak topped with garlic butter shrimp, paired with a loaded baked potato and the house salad. Everything was spot on — they even bring out fresh bread to the table that was literally steaming hot and tasted like it just came straight from the oven. The salad was great, but the standout was the croutons! They were soft with just the right crunch and had a buttery flavor that made them unforgettable.
The steak itself was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly how I asked. We also tried the salmon, lobster tail, and the T-bone steak — all generous portions and cooked beautifully. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was another highlight, with plump shrimp and a cocktail sauce that had just the right amount of kick.
Our waitress, Vicky, was outstanding. She was friendly, attentive, and took great care of us. My parents are regulars of hers and she knew exactly what they wanted, which made the whole experience feel even more personal.
Overall, this is a very good steakhouse with huge portions and great flavors. You will definitely leave here full and satisfied....
