Norb's Tavern — Restaurant in Alton

Norbs is a pretty good place. For one they have slots. For 2 if you like a laid-back place that's not overly crowded then you've found the right place. They have several drink options. Not to mention they have pool tables. The food is typical bar food. Something quick and easy like frozen pizza and frozen appetizers. It's a bar not a restaurant. That being said there's a sandwich shop connected to norbs which is accessible through norbs and it's own entry through the front. The sandwiches are fire. Simply put amazing 😀. It's not owned by norbs but still it's nice to sit in the bar get a drink go order food and then the sandwich shop brings you your sandwich if you return to the bar. For 30$ you can get food and a couple of drinks and relax and be happy with what you spend....

So it's been awhile since I have been out. Husband and I took to wanting to play pool which is hard to find these days. Norbs hasn't changed much, the same people go their except really its their home bar and outsiders are just that. Uncomfortably looked at, it is okay because nobody was rude it was just made obvious we were not a regular and they knew it. They no longer serve pitchers of beer due to the "pandemic" and so that was a disappointment but, Over all the bartender being a guy I appreciate because it doesn't always have to be a woman and norbs has its own crowd. I met my wife here years ago. I was meeting my brother, she was at a birthday party for a friend.

Some nights there's a grunge crowd. I like 'mixxed' drinks not shots with a splash of soda so I have to remind the bartenders.

The only brown ale is Newcastle. But there's many domestics and a couple dark foreign beers to choose from. That could be a result of the Covid thing. I remember there being a wider variety in the past.

There's a few ok pool tables. A sub shop. Darts. Internet juke box. Pizzas off...
