Black & Gold Tavern — Restaurant in Altoona

This is a pretty good bar I would say it's more like a country bar with a little bit of modernness to it but definitely an old fashioned bar where people drink beer listen to good old country music or old rock which is pretty dumb I think. They have about 3 bartenders there so there's not much waiting around for drinks these girls are really fast and really good at their job very nice very great customer service I really enjoyed the girls out there to the great job. This board does have gambling machines there about 7 altogether and the board does have a pool table also if you like to play pool. They have 2 separate bathrooms one stall only for men and women and it is handicap accessible. Also there if I remember they do serve food so if you come hungry I'm pretty sure they will hook you up with some good stuff. And also they have ADJ there when I went home Saturday which was pretty cool so you could make some requests and they do have a music playing Box to pay money in order to listen to your song so that is the upside to the bar. Wife and I were back visiting family over the holidays and decided to find a few places to shoot pool. We went in on what we thought would be a quiet Tuesday only to find the place 3/4 of the way full with very friendly and happy people. The wife was a little trepidatious because there were so many and we stuck out like a sore thumb but she was soon feeling extremely comfortable. There were four or five people playing on one table with the other one open. We started playing and more people came in, we volunteered to let anyone join and were told to enjoy ourselves. We ended up playing a little bit with the locals and they were awesome. The place seems very much like a private club in its makeup but once you're in there it seems like you're adopted into the family very quickly. Also, maybe most importantly, we had 4 or 5 rounds of beer- sorry it was a fun night and I don't really remember, for $15. Regardless, they almost had to take me out on a stretcher when I got the tab. Lol

This is a place I fell in love with right away and still enjoy after a 5 year absence. They are friendly and family to me. This is a great establishment even though the covid. Great food, atmosphere and owners!!! A sports bar and Steelers rooted to the cour .!!!!!!!! And with 2 pool tables to look down on,... like your at a Tennis court in the stands. Makes a much more inactive pool hall atmosphere. Just as many women play as men and are good players. Plenty of close large screen tv.s 2 watch what ever and after all the places I've been and have quantified a few ,I'm surprised that in my own back yard gas a home...
