Best Food In Town — Restaurant in Altoona

The WORST customer service. Both the man and woman yell at you when taking your order. They hung up on my daughter because she asked the lady to repeat herself because she couldn’t understand her. I should have let it go at that and ordered elsewhere, but I called back and placed the order. The man who answered also yelled. They act like they are so busy that they can’t take the time to speak to you nicely and are in a hurry to get off the phone. I ordered a side of white rice and steamed broccoli. A pint of white rice is $3.00. The white rice I received was no more than a cup. She charged me $7.25 for chicken and broccoli. I didn’t get chicken because that’s not what I ordered, but got charged for it. So a cup of white rice and a cup and a half of steamed broccoli for $7.25. Lost a customer, well several because no one in my house will order from there again. Can’t wait for the Thai place beside them...

Since it was right next door to video store that we were going to thought I’d give it a chance....BIG MISTAKE!!!! After placing order we went to video store. While there I thought about what I was charged and realized something was wrong! Placed an order for three items...knew one was a little higher than other two but was grossly overcharged!!! The bill came to $26!!! When brought it to the person’s attention she got very upset and started slamming things around!! Thankfully there was another worker there who listened to me and looked over our original order! He then asked me who circled the size of items and I told him the woman behind counter did...he said something to her in Chinese and they exchanged a few words! Finally I was refunded the overage but they were not happy! Needless to say this is the one and only time I will be going to...

I ordered Hunan Chicken to go from the lunch menu. Included with the main course was a choice of soup or egg roll. I chose the the won ton soup. The price was reasonable - under $7.00.

The dining room was acceptably clean with seating for maybe 10-15 people. Linoleum flooring, basic diner-type seating, and not noticeable decor.

Overall it met my expectations. I was looking for something close, inexpensive, and quick. Best Food In Town served these expectations.

Would I go there for a sit-down meal or to dine professionally or with friends or family? Probably not. I will return again when I find myself in a hurry and wanting quick...
