The menu literally states in the first line, Please inform your server, chef, or manager on duty of any dietary restrictions when arriving at the restaurant. Well this is not true. I told the waiter that I can't do carbs as I am a diabetic and can you swap out sides for ones that are not carbs. He was curt and inconsiderate while telling me the chef won't make changes to the sides. I can take away a side but will have to buy an additional one. While I listened to this option, I remembered there were at least 2 other sides offered on 2 entres. Haricot verts and Brussel sprouts. I was fully aware that these 2 sides could be substituted for the current sides on the entre I was thinking about. The waiter was not interested in offering me any other options. He quickly stated the chef won't make any changes. So I go back to that very first line in the menu. I won't be inclined to spend any more time or money at this point. I decided that we would pay for the 2 drinks we ordered and walk to Citizens where I know they will allow me to make substitutions and gladly help me to stay healthy.
While leaving I pointed out that to the waiter they should remove the first line of the menu as it is meaningless. He again got surly and said I will certainly let the owners know. I know he had no intention of doing so. Hence one of the reasons why I am writing this review. Btw we had an amazing meal at citizens. Probably spent more money there for a more healthy and enjoyable experience. In fact the waiter remembered us from a prior visit.
Will absolutely never eat at George's again. Too many choices in the area and choices that actually understand the importance of eating correctly to stay alive. This place is not worth your time. Go...

The peach tea cocktail was a revelation—perfectly balanced with a refreshing kick that made every sip delightful. The sweet potatoes were cooked to perfection, offering a satisfying blend of sweet and savory, while the calamari fries were crispy and packed with flavor, making them a standout appetizer. However, the experience wasn’t flawless. The scallops arrived noticeably undercooked, which was disappointing, though the staff quickly rectified the issue. While the dish was decent after being corrected, it didn’t quite meet the high bar set by the rest of the meal. The lively vibe and welcoming feel at George’s still make it a great spot to dine, but it falls just short of the top tier for seafood in the area. 4.5 stars for a memorable, if slightly uneven, experience.
George’s at Alys Beach has become my favorite restaurant for elevated coastal dining along 30A. From the moment you arrive at the charming cottage surrounded by palms, you know you’re in for something special. The food sings with fresh Gulf seafood and local ingredients flawlessly prepared in ways that delight the palate. Each dish boasts complex layers of flavor that keep you wanting more. The wine list offers great variety as well. Combined with the genuinely warm hospitality from the staff, George's transports you to a peaceful yet lively dining experience. From the cuisine to the ambiance to the service, everything is top-notch. George’s earns my highest recommendation and a 5-star rating for being one of my favorite Alys...
Read moreOur family's recent lunch at George's At Alys Beach was nothing short of delightful. From start to finish, the experience was marked by exceptional food and attentive service. We began our meal with two appetizers: the lobster quesadillas and the smoked tuna dip. Both were excellent starters that set the tone for a memorable meal. The lobster quesadillas were rich and flavorful, while the smoked tuna dip offered a perfect balance of smokiness and freshness. For the main course, my wife opted for the sesame crab and avocado salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The combination of fresh crab meat, creamy avocado, and nutty sesame created a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. I chose the famous market fish sandwich featuring grilled grouper. It lived up to its reputation - the fish was perfectly cooked, flaky and moist, making for a satisfying and delicious meal. The children's menu was a hit with our kids. The butterfly mac and cheese was a creative twist on a classic favorite. The "totally hoppy shrimp" (a clever name that our kids loved) and the "ribbit fingers" were both tasty and fun, demonstrating that George's pays as much attention to their young diners as they do to adults. What truly set George's apart was not just the quality of the food, but also the excellent service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, enhancing our overall dining experience. George's At Alys Beach proves that beachside dining can be both casual and refined. With its diverse menu that caters to all ages, fresh ingredients, and stellar service, it's a restaurant that we would highly recommend to anyone...
