My family of four had dinner last night (Sunday) at Longhorn Steakhouse in Amarillo. It is a fairly new restaurant and we had heard the food was good. We heard wrong. Let me begin by stating that we arrived at 7:00 p.m. we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait. Not bad. During our wait my husband went to the bar, which was NOT busy and he waited for 10 minutes for one of the two bartenders to ask him if he needed help. They were much too busy talking to each other. He got a margarita, which he said was good. I ordered a Cosmopolitan which is made with cranberry juice, lime juice, vodka and grand marnier. Garnished with a lime wedge. I got something that tasted like a Cape Cod garnished with orange. Oh well. Once seated it took 25 minutes for our server (Chastity) to appear and ask what we wanted to drink. We asked for refills on our drinks. I asked for water to accompany my drink. We ordered at that time since we had had plenty of time to decide on what we wanted. All but one of us ordered steak. A bone in ribeye, prime rib, and another regular ribeye. We waited another half hour before our food showed up. I grew up in the meatpacking industry and I can assure you I know how a steak is supposed to taste and how it is supposed to be cooked. These steaks, while cooked correctly, had NO flavor. The macaroni and Cheese our other family member ordered was very bland. None of us left happy with our meal or the service. I can say the pictures on the menu were very enticing but looked nothing like what was actually served. In the future, we will drive across the street and have a great meal at Saltgrass. Don't waste your time or money with the Longhorn Steak House. Oh, and I never did get my...
Read moreWe decided to try this restraint last night with family that was here from out of town and this was not a good choice. For starters we arrived over an hour before closing and that should have been plenty of time to get everything ordered and served it took our waitress an approiate amout of time to get drink orders taken and that's where things started wrong it took her being reminded multiple times that I still didn't have my drink and everyone else did she also failed to bring me water despite being asked. He waitress took our order and waited between 30-45 min to come. Ack out and tell 2 people who ordered prime rib that they were out of them and what else would they like that is something we should have been made aware of right after the order was placed. The food arrived about 10 minutes prior to closing and only 3out of 6 were brought out we still had to wait for the rest. One family members steak was excessively fatty, my husbands steak wasn't as nicely cut as another family members who ordered the same thing. A word of caution the chef loves pepper to the point neither kid would eat the French fries for complaint they were to spicy. The steaks were also heavily peppered and butter covered. Mashed potatoes were covered in either a dried green herb or chives to excess that my very non picky husband wouldn't even eat them. Our waitress was somewhat pushy to hurry us out at 10:01 despite everyone still having at least 1/2 a steak on their plate. Overall the food was ok the service here is horrible and the drinks were average. I would not recommend this restraunt go to one of many others that are...
Read moreAnd the bread is not all that good, and terrible compared to Saltgrass bread. We then wait for almost half and hour for the food to come out, the waitress brings the three plates out and sets two down and at that moment another customer starts loudly complaining that her order that was just set down was not right, even though there was another waitress there, my waitress felt it necessary to run over there with my plate in her hand and see what the problem was, and drove me crazy while I watched her run around the place with my plate. When she did set it in front of me, it was supposed to be a chicken sandwich, but the chicken was cold as ice! I mean literally out of the refrigerator cold. I ask if it was supposed to be a cold sandwich and she said no, it's supposed to be hot. After waiting over 30 minutes at lunchtime for this crap, I am hungry and don't have time to go somewhere else, so I eat the crap. Then the manager comes and listens to my long complaint about everything they are doing wrong. Offers to bring another one hot off the grill, but I don't have time, and now I am Hangry. I just want to get my bill and leave. The waitress leaves us hanging for a while, finally we ask where's the bill and she says it's been taken care of. We ordered the food and ate it despite being not good, and we wanted to pay for our meal, we are not beggars and feel insulted that the manager refused to let us pay for our meals. Or at least two out of three, even though they were all terrible. ARE YOU LISTENING LONGHORN CORPORATE? SALTGRASS IS GOING TO BURY YOU IN SHORT ORDER. GET BETTER OR GET...
