Amarillo Little Theatre — Attraction in Amarillo

I am a writer and my new novel out now on Amazon and select stores is titled "The Reckoning of Rance. A modern day western about a troubled family of inheritance gone bad. It was the book that brought me to Amarillo for a signing. But once there I needed something else to do. I made a reservation for my wife and I at this little theater, for their opening play of Matilda. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. Such a wonderful experience and time we had. The little star, Lake Derington stole the show. She was quiet the singer and actress, not taking anything away from the total rest of the cast who were just all exceptionally wonderful in their own rights. I will say we also enjoyed Nels Bjork and the craziness of that performance with occasional flirtation attacks upon unsuspecting male members of the audience. We loved it! Alt was a delight. We recently attended the Alt for the Academy's performance of James and the Giant Peach. The production was well down and the theater very charming. My in-laws are season ticker holders explained that Amarillo and the panhandle community cares deeply about alt as it is one of the country's oldest 100 years and counting historic community theater. The night we added the lobby were selling snacks and had made a creative background in the lobby to take photos. We were pleased the Academy theater students were well rehearsed with cute costumes, There were audio issues in the second half, but only for a few moments and not terribly distracting. Always enjoy ALT plays and productions. Most recent showing of the Musical production of Shrek is a must see. Kudos to the entire Cast and Staff. The show had the audience rumbling in laughter. You can meet the cast immediately after the show. Singing, music and voice articulations were spot-on. Role(s) and animations of Shrek, Fieona, & Prince Farquhar along with the induvidual, entire cast including lighting, backgrounds, props and wardrobe should be commended for their @3 hour performance at Amarillo Little Theater 🎭.
