The Birria Spot — Restaurant in American Canyon

Eating out when you’re on a keto diet is generally not very exciting. So when I stumbled upon The Birria Spot online today and saw they had keto tacos, we just had to try it.

The lady who took our order and rung us up was super friendly and helpful. We ended up getting several keto birria tacos and one carne asada keto taco.

The taco shells were fried cheese and I expected it to be crunchy and maybe fall apart… BUT NO! They were cooked perfectly so that they were soft and flexible and added so much flavor to the birria. They were easily the tastiest birria tacos I’ve ever had. We are DEFINITELY going to be frequenting this place.

But then it happened… there was one taco left. It was the carne asada. The moment I bit into it, I felt a hundred spots in my brain all light up at once!! The amount of flavor was so unexpected and shocking. I’ve never had a taco (keto or otherwise) hit like this. I think the meat was obviously very good but then the keto shell just set it off.

I’m a fan of diners. I enjoyed stopping in for comfort food while traveling on business. Canyon Cafe did NOT disappoint. It was a great dining experience!!

I enjoyed every bite of my oversized 3 egg omelette stuffed with the flavorful ingredients of choice. The pieces of the omelette stuffings/fixin’s were large which and cooked perfectly.

My server was Michael, one of the new owners (along with his brother and sister). His positive attitude reflected his pride of ownership and it was fun hearing him share the story of how and his siblings became owners recently of a 50 year old diner. Based on his personal touch I’m confident the siblings will turn this aged diner into a spruced-up diner.

The quality of food was exceptional!! Every part of my customized order was made to perfection. Portions are more than generous! Canyon academy was the perfect stop for a late brunch on a day I missed breakfast.

One of the worst places to eat. Walked in the floor was so dirty it didn't look like the mopped in a week. I could see in the kitchen where Mel from Alice and that foreign guy on 2 broke girls were tending a not so clean grill. Took 15 minutes to get menus. Food was fast but when I got my breakfast there was lint from something on my toast. When I asked the obviously overworked server what it was she explained that they use rags to sop up the grease off the sausage(what). I didn't order sausage and. Why w as it on my toast. Then told me I could have what ever I wanted I politely said no thank you. Then miss overworked proceeded to barade me about finding a foreign substance in my food. Just then one of the people I was with.found lint in their food. I almost threw up in my mouth. No thanks Flo. The only thing missing from this establishment was someone smoking in the kitchen. CLEAN IT UP CANYON CAFE YOU GIVE GREASY SPOONS A BAD NAME. Health department please pay them a visit. They definitely need a lesson...
